Our Highways team is involved in some of the UKs most high profile, complex and stimulating projects that are diverse and technically demanding. We have an enviable reputation in the delivery of some of the UKs and indeed the worlds most prestigious and challenging projects. Our current client portfolio includes the Department of Transport, Transport for Scotland, the Highways Agency, Transport for London, Borough Councils, Civil Engineering Contractors and International Governments, for whom we undertake the planning, design and supervision of bridge / structures projects with a view to exceeding our clients requirements.

Owing to recent contract awards, we are now looking to recruit a number of Chartered Bridge Engineers to work in our UK-based bridge design team on a wide portfolio of schemes throughout the UK and overseas to ensure we meet the demanding workload.

Reporting to the Associate Director / Director, you will provide technical support into assigned projects ensuring successful delivery of technically challenging Bridge / Structures schemes for UK and internationally based projects

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Delivery of allocated technical assignments, work elements and work packages and other design activities
- Undertaking technical tasks in accordance with the Companys quality, safety and project management/engineering procedures and controls
- Provision of Civil Engineering design inputs, within own area of experience/knowledge, across aspects of the Companys activities and commissions
- Checking / vetting all designs before issue
- Undertaking consultancy assignments and providing advisory support to Clients and contribute to formulation of design concepts and approaches
- Maintain good relationships with Clients key representative, and contribute to the marketing/networking of the Company to potential customers
- Inputs to the formulation of technical Proposals and their presentation to potential Clients
- Contribute to overall team resource allocation and utilisation
- Specific allocated responsibilities and duties commensurate with individual experience and developmental needs.
- Design management, team leadership / mentoring and client relationship skills
- Carry out any other tasks as directed by your Line Manager

Requirements

We are seeking to locate a Chartered (or nearly Chartered) Principal Bridge Engineer who has gained proven work experience in the design of bridge structures in the UK. To be considered for a role we are seeking candidates with the following credentials:

Minimum Academic Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Civil Engineering
- You will be a Chartered (or approaching Chartership) Civil or Structural Engineer with the ICE or IStructE

Essential Experience:
- Demonstrable experience of bridge design in the UK
- Significant experience in the analysis and design of bridges and civil structures in concrete and or steel
- Strong working knowledge of bridge design codes used in the UK
- Excellent written English with experience of writing and checking reports for clients
- Liaising directly with clients

Desirable Experience:
- Design of bridges to Eurocodes, BS and ASSHTO standards
- Experience in post-tensioned bridge designs
- Experience of leading a design team, mentoring and developing junior engineers
- Experience of working on major infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas
