Chief Material Engineer (Infrastructure)

Our client is a reputable Qatari contractor holding Grade A status with the Qatari government. They have a large profile of projects within Qatar, and they are looking to expand their presence. Currently our client is in urgent need of a Chief Material Engineer specializing in infrastructure projects. Applicants should have held a similar supervisory position on infrastructure projects in the past.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensuring engineering work undertaken is accordance with Departmental Work Instructions, Procedures and Standards.
- Writing and reviewing technical reports.
- Liaise with Class & Owners with regard to material selection/ replacement.
- Training and mentoring Senior Lab and Site technicians.
- Check, approve or suggest alternate solution for material to be procured considering the project requirements.
- Identify the most economical and technically acceptable materials for the project
- Designing and directing the testing or control of processing procedures.
- Performing tests and corresponding analysis on sample products of fresh concrete and aggregates for slump, temperature, density, air content, specific gravity, absorption, moisture, sieve, and chemical properties.
- Establishing or adjusting work procedures to meet testing schedules.
- Monitoring material performance and evaluate material deterioration.
- Conducting field sampling, testing, and non destructive testing.
- Managing relationships with clients.
- Conducting research to develop custom tests to meet clients expectations.
- Directing and advising the site and lab technician teams.
- Ensuring the adherence to the desired technical standards, and staying up to date with new technologies and developments.

Requirements

- Previous experience in managerial/supervisor positions as Material Engineer.
- Previous experience on infrastructure projects.
- Contracting background.
- Must be civil engineer.
- No outstanding NOC issues.
- Must have previous GCC experience
