The RoleThe RolePrimary Objective: To supervise a team of Mechanical Engineers on a corporate basis, maintain technical standards, establish budgets for mechanical work on large scale EPC / FEED projects, monitor quality, set technical direction, resource and plan manpower requirements for projects. Specific Accountabilities: Technically responsible for the efficiency of the mechanical group and for the quality of the work performed. Monitor mechanical group performance in projects. Conduct technical audits of the discipline output to ensure accuracy, suitability and quality objectives are met. Ensure the group is adequately staffed with suitably qualified and experienced persons to perform the work. Maintain an updated discipline organisation chart. Develop job descriptions for all discipline positions and ensure all members of the group have understood their respective responsibilities and authorities. Establish and implement estimating and productivity standards. Establish group budgets at the onset of each project and assist in initial execution plans. Prepare implement and maintain standard engineering procedures and ensure that these are understood and utilised by the discipline. Develop training programmes for selected staff and create a strong motivated team approach to work. Keep up to date with latest technical developments within the discipline and advise management on best practice both in engineering and drafting. Assist the proposal manager(s) in the preparation and approval of manhour estimates and technical qualifications for all discipline engineering work. Support Project Managers to ensure discipline work is performed on time to project requirements. Engage specialist consultants as necessary to augment technical strengths. Ensure company standards are updated and available to all discipline personnel. Ensure Client, Australian and International standards are current and that identified changes are highlighted to all staff in the discipline. Conduct regular quality meetings/reviews with the discipline group to ensure procedures and standards are understood and implemented. Assist Planning Engineers in the formation of programs and schedules and actively review and update information. Ensure that all personnel within the discipline understand safety regulations both within the office and at client sites. |
RequirementsRequirementsCandidates must have a minimum B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering. 10 years experience managing a team of Design Engineers on large scale onshore oil and gas projects. Experience in working for MNC EPC/FEED detailed engineering companies would be advantageous. Abilities to manage a cultural diverse team is essential. |
