The RoleThe RoleOur client, a Malaysia government funded waterfront real estate development firm, seeks a Chief Operations Officer to lead and drive the strategic direction of the firm’s corporate operations in Malaysia. Our client’s land bank comprises 3000 acres which is all waterfront prime stock. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Operations Officer will be responsible for providing the strategic direction and effective leadership of the firm’s corporate operation and the optimal performance of the firm. The key deliverable of this role is to develop the strategic direction and build a cohesive and focused team who can compete at an international level. Specific responsibilities will include: •Leading the management team in developing and implementing medium and long term strategy; •Managing the company’s operations within agreed budgets; •Driving and monitoring the development management process; •Facilitating positive relationships between the Board, key stakeholders, staff and client; •Representation of the firm on the public stage; •Contribute to the sales and marketing efforts, specifically for “off –the-plan”sales; and •Monitoring of joint venture arrangements and partnerships. Please note that this role will commence as Chief Operating Officer for the first 6 months before the successful candidate will then be considered for advancement to the role of CEO. This is a newly established firm employing a team of 40 at this time and thus substantial growth is to occur in the next 2 years. |
RequirementsRequirementsThis position calls for an accomplished leader with strong strategic vision and proven commercial acumen. Extensive knowledge of the global development sector, with ideally exposure to the Dubai / Abu Dhabi markets, is highly desirable. Degree qualifications in property development are essential with 15 years experience in development and at least 5 years in a leadership role within a global organization. Experience in building and developing cities and a visionary approach to development is a prerequisite.
