Job description / Role

Chief Risk Officer - Egypt

With a strong Corporate / Wholesale banking background you will be responsible for the establishment and on-going development of the Risk Management department. Incorporating Credit, Market, Operational and regulatory risk.
* You will implement appropriate risk reporting to the CEO, Exec Committee, Board and senior management.
* Ensure early detection of warning signals to ensure timely correction
* Keep abreast of the ever changing credit risk environment and bank relationships / customers Setting up and ensuring ongoing and periodic monitoring and reviews of each
* Ensure a strong "credit" culture exists across the bank, through branch network and all sales staff
* Review credit policies and recommend changes where required
* Ensure Fraud prevention as per Fraud guidelines
* Manage collections department efficiently and effectively
* Manage Retail Risk for the bank and all end to end credit initiation & collections
* Manage non-performing portfolios of Retail borrowers
* Establish Market Risk within the bank as per HQ guidelines

Requirements

* Robust banking experience of at least 15 years within Risk and a strong Credit background
* Must have a superb understanding of local Egyptian banking laws/product offering and services
* Solid international payment, trade finance & treasury exposure. Documentation and structuring - Trade Finance experience
* Must have a very strong background in Corporate / Wholesale banking
* Evidence of establishing a robust Risk department previously, incorporating: Credit, Market, Operational and regulatory
* Must be able to pass regulatory approval requirements in Egypt
