RIYADH METRO TRANSIT CONSULTANT
The Riyadh Metro project is urgently looking for Civil Design Engineers to join a team responsible for performing design reviews on this ambitious metro project.
As part of our team of expert engineers and CAD technicians, the Civil Design Engineers will work closely with colleagues of various disciplines, to oversee the detailed engineering, specifications, scheme designs and project reports submitted by the Design Build (DB) contractors.
The workload of work will also include a range of civil engineering from inspection and assessment work to feasibility studies.
Reporting to the Lead Civil (Design) your main duties will include the undertaking design reviews, monitoring interfaces and coordinating the civil construction project teams.
The chosen candidate for this position will have 8 years of experience designing, proficient in Civil 3D, and can demonstrate experience in the preparation of engineering plans, specifications, and calculations.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Working with the project team to prepare and review civil engineering construction plans and designs to ensure the civils works designs are delivered to schedule, budget and client specifications.
- Regularly liaising with the client, the design-build (DB) contractors and project stakeholders
- Assisting with the preparation of project schedules, work plans, construction cost estimates, progress reports and construction phase services
- Assessing rail alignment options, site development plans and preparing study reports
- Reviewing and approving the feasibility studies, outline and detailed design technical reports and other written documents submitted by the DV contractors
- Ensuring DB contractors plans and drawings compliance with client specifications
- Reviewing and approving the DB contractors design submittals for line-side civil works including roads, earthworks, utilities, drainage, associated civil structures and cut and fill requirements.
- Monitoring change control throughout design and construction stages
- Undertaking site surveys during the design development and construction works process
- Ensuring design compliance with HSE and quality standards
- Participating in design meetings with the client and the project management team to fully understand expected project goals
Requirements
- Degree, diploma or technical qualification in construction related field
- Minimum of 8 years experience on large-scale complex projects
- Experienced in the design and specification of platforms, drainage, earthworks, structures and bases
- Expert in CAD (computer-aided design) packages
- Strong knowledge in a number of packages including MX and AutoCAD
- Strong verbal and written English language skills
- Ability to work as part of a team to achieve agreed deadlines
Desirable
- Experience of civil engineering design within the metro, rail or related sector
- Experience of permanent way or alignment design
- Understanding of the multidisciplinary interface between railway civil works and associated external stakeholders
- GCC project experience
