Employment: Full Time

BP entered Oman in 2007 though an EPSA for Block 61, a tight gas onshore opportunity. Activities to date have been appraisal well drilling and the construction of and EWT facility. The first phase of the full field development, the Khazzan project is currently in FEED. Project sanction is targeted for May 2013.
The Khazzan project is expected to include around 300 wells, a 500km gathering system, a 1.2 bcfd gas processing plant and 50 km gas and condensate export pipelines. Total facilities costs are around $6 bn with a start up in 2016.

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for the civil and structural design of the facilities in Oman from FEED through to detailed design and specification of construction and quality requirements. This will focus initially on early works. He will report functionally to the project Lead Civil Engineer and for delivery to the Oman Infrastructure Delivery Manager.

*Lead civil and structural specification and design activities in Muscat

*Implement BP MPcp and Engineering and Quality Management expectations within discipline area

*Oversee engineering quality performance for civils and structures

*Maintain a clear understanding of planned against actual progress for civil and structural engineering and intervene where necessary to maintain schedule.

*Oversee the technical aspects of civil packages including development of criticality assessments, quality plans, requisition specifications, technical bid evaluations and surveillance of manufacturing and test programs

*Ensure suppliers and contractors comply with BP safety policies and standards and ensure that the necessary requirements of BP safety reviews are met during the design process.

*Ensure that the project team works closely with Operations to identify and capture standardisation opportunities so that life cycle costing considerations are fully reflected in the design

*Network with other projects and functional experts to facilitate knowledge transfer/lessons learnt

*Technically evaluate request for exceptions/deviations to relevant ETPs standards and specifications and advise the Lead Civil Engineer on technical integrity issues

Requirements

*Degree in civil engineering and chartered membership of the I.C.E or equivalent body

*Minimum 4 years relevant experience

*Proven track record in delivery of civils in onshore facilities in a Middle East desert environment

*Proven track record in establishing and running quality systems on major E&P projects

*Excellent inter-personnel and leadership skills with the ability to work in a multinational project team and develop strong working relationships with the contractor
