The RoleThe RoleTo provide engineering services on mechanical and civil disciplines to progress, develop and implement additions and modifications to refinery facilities. To Provide technical guidance/ assistance on mechanical/ civil engineering matters under senior engineer supervision to various refinery departments. 1. To develop and expand skills, job task knowledge, and competencies. 2. To define small project requirements, develop proposals, estimate costs, obtain approvals, engineer design, procure materials, supervise construction and assist commissioning. Activities to be planned and coordinated with other refinery groups, vendors and contractors. 3. Organize and monitor the work of support staff, refinery personnel, contractors and vendors during all project phases including; engineering, drafting, construction, inspection, testing and commissioning. Write, evaluate and administer purchase requisitions and installation contracts. 4. Keep up-to-date with current techniques, applications and equipment Additional Information: The PDE will be placed in a section under the auspices and guidance of a supervisor and/or a Senior Engineer, to begin his Professional Development. Throughout this initial period, he will complete simple assignment himself, and assist the Senior Engineer with the more difficult ones. The projects will involve routine administrative and technical procedures, to improve and develop the basic skills required to function in the section. The assignments will be selected to ensure the PDE develops certain competencies and achieves the desired Development and Task Objectives. |
RequirementsRequirementsEducational Requirements or Equivalent: BS Mechanical or Civil Engineering. Specialized Knowledge: Mechanical Engineer : Basic knowledge of piping and general mechanical equipment design (e.g. Vessel, heat exchanger, compressors, pumps, etc). familiar with refinery standards, specifications, project management and software. Civil Engineer : Basic knowledge of foundation design and structural steel design (e.g. Platforms, supports, etc) Familiar with refinery standards, specifications, project management and software. Previous Experience Required: Two years preferred minimum experience in Design Engineering; Construction Supervision; Project Management would be an asset. Working Knowledge to be Acquired on the Job: Mechanical Engineer : Detailed familiarity with piping system and equipment design, and ability to implement on refinery modification and upgrades. Also, improve his knowledge on the software related to equipment design. Thorough understanding of project handling and administration procedures. Civil Engineer : Detailed familiarity with concreting and structural steel design, and ability to implement on refinery modification and upgrades. Also, improve his knowledge on the software related to concreting & structural design. Thorough understanding of project handling and administration procedures. |
