Job description / Role
Inspector (Tunnels - TBM)
The Civil Inspector will provide general inspections on construction labor and subcontractor work to assure contractual compliance. They will monitor quality control and quality assurance, review field measurements and assist in compiling Bill of Quantities reports (BoQs) for payment of quantities and changes in the work.
The Civil Inspectors will also prepare daily reports in accordance with the projects requirements and will observe general job safety and environmental practices
Monitoring all site construction and inspection work when required or instructed by the Resident Engineer
Directly coordinating with the contractors regarding project activities such as the construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and clients requirements
Reviewing operational process and installations to ensure that the subcontractors comply with the design, standards and specifications of the contract documents
Ensuring the subcontractors comply with operational and safety standards
Assisting to identify, respond to or evaluate field construction technical issues to maintain the schedule
Verifying field measurements
Providing documentation relating to changes in contract work
Reviewing and supervising subcontractor daily and weekly inspection reports
Assisting in compiling Bill of Quantity (BoQ) reports for monthly pay estimates
Participating in weekly design review meetings with Civil Engineering team
Requirements
- Have a minimum of 10 years experience in large scale infrastructure tunneling projects, specifically TBM experience, metro/railway project preferred.
- International Experience (Middle-East) of working in Engineering Management Firm or in a construction site environment.
- Excellent oral and written English language. Qualified professional working under limited supervision capable of performing general technical works and manages projects or tasks of moderate complexity or less experience staff.
- Engineering degree or comparable Technical Bachelors Degree, preferably with a bias towards tunneling and geotechnics.
