Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Design for concrete/steel structures such as metal buildings, pipe racks, platforms, equipment foundations, concrete buildings.
- Civil/structural engineering plans and layouts.
- Project civil specifications based on company specifications.
- Project proposals related to civil/structural aspects.
- Engineering calculations for civil/structural designs.
- Man-Hours estimation, Material take off and cost estimates of projects.
- Design calculations.
- Company specifications and standards.
- Scope of work for civil/structural jobs.
- Defining QA requirements and developing QC's.
- Evaluating bids technical proposals and recommend.

Other job responsibilities include the following duties;
- Work independently in the group as the sole civil design engineer and work in a team of engineering and design office.
- Apply experience, engineering techniques, codes, standards, analysis calculations, specification, company procedures, sound judgment, and design criteria to conduct his work.
- Ensure that all civil and structural works done at company are per approved specifications.
- Prepare quality assurance and control documents for civil/structural jobs.
- Field inspection of work activities, surveying and measurement taking.
- Act as project engineer or lead engineer for civil/structural related projects/jobs.
- Prepare drawings for design and produce himself in electronic format. Also, if work load increases, he shall produce sketches to allow designers/draft men to draw on electronic format. He will then verify the drawings.
- Work directly with project engineers, designers, CAD operators, and draft men to ensure work activities are coordinated. He may also be required to supervise and train these personnel.
- Use software related to civil/structural for design, calculations and preparation of design packages. Example is StaadPro.
- Responsible to plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
- Devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices.

Requirements

Candidate must have knowledge of civil/structural design and engineering experience.

He will be responsible for designing concrete and steel structures such as steel buildings, concrete buildings, equipment foundations, pipe racks, platforms and other related duties.

Other duties may also include special tasks such as trouble shooting civil/structural issues, managing civil/structural intensive projects, training colleagues, etc.

Minimum qualifications are a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from accredited university and at least 12 years of experience in engineering and design.

Position will be in engineering and design office of a major petrochemical company (Saudi Chevron Phillips S-Chem) in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (BS) from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 7 years of design experience with engineering firms or with design offices.
- Very experienced in StaadPro.
- Very conversant in Micro-Station and Auto-CAD.
- Very experienced in Microsoft suite of applications.
- Capable of writing narrative scopes of works.
- Able to drive a car with valid driving license.
