The RoleThe RoleUnder general direction, provides clinical and educational support to Hospital Trauma Center nursing staff. Assumes primary responsibility for the development, implementation and evaluation of orientation, education and skills training programs of staff, Supports clinical practice within the Center. 1.Diagnoses learning needs based on assessment data. Prioritizes identified needs, designs education to meet needs and evaluates teaching. Redesigns program based on evaluation results. 2. Plans, implements and evaluates educational and clinical programs to meet the learning needs of Hospital Trauma Center nursing staff including orientation, clinical teaching and in service. Develops and reviews instructional materials. Maintains program records. 3. Participates in the performance and skill assessment of staff. Develops skills assessment programs. Certifies staff in specialized skills. 4. Communicates and consults with other health care disciplines. Acts as a clinical resource in area of specialty. 5. Collaborates with other disciplines in providing Center-wide educational programs. Participates in clinical committees and councils. 6. Acts as a clinical role model and resource for staff and Nursing Services in the area of expertise. Participates in educational and clinical audits. Participates in Quality Improvement projects as a project leader, facilitator or team member. 7. Participates in the development, communication and evaluation of standards, procedures and protocols. Participates in selected nursing research activities. Facilitates changes in clinical practice. 8. Conducts education workshops and conference sessions. Presents ideas at conferences, rounds and workshops. 9. Participates in patient education initiatives through review and development of instructional materials and individual or group teaching. 10. Performs other professional duties as may be assigned within his/her scope and ability. |
RequirementsRequirementsEducation: Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or Education Postgraduate course in designated clinical specialty ACLS certification Other: Professional practicing designation Experience: Minimum five (5) years recent related experience in clinical teaching and acute care, inclusive of two (2) years experience in the designated clinical area of the position or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Language skills: Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Skills: Effective team leader, highly organized and proactive Encourages respect in clinical role Teaching experience preferred Ability to foster and maintain productive work relationships within Nursing Services Team creating an open learning environment Customer service orientation Ensures orientation, professional development and continuing education programs are developed for all nursing personnel Ensures there are evidence-based standards, procedures and protocols in place to direct the delivery of nursing care. |
