The RoleThe RoleBased in Doha, Qatar, Sidra Medical and Research Center will be the Middle East's first academic medical center designed to the best international standards. Scheduled to open in early 2013, Sidra will provide world class, patient-focused, clinical services for women and children, medical education, and biomedical research in an ultra-modern, all-digital facility.The Clinical Nurse Leader II Operating Room (OR) Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, participates in the development of operational plans, standards and policies necessary to ensure optimal clinical performance in pediatric cardiac surgery, including the development and implementation of OR strategic initiatives, acting as a clinical resource for the CIS/ERP build, planning the framework for monitoring and improving patient outcomes and ensuring that planning for Pediatric Cardiac Surgery meets the highest standards of clinical care. The Clinical Nurse Leader II also participates in recruiting, commissioning, on-boarding, orientation and service activation responsibilities in accordance with project plans and timelines and which may extend into hospital operations. |
RequirementsRequirements* Responsible for continued development and implementation of Sidra Strategic Initiative iMRI Hybrid Pediatric Cardiac program for service activation.* Acts as clinical resource for and actively participates in CIS/ERP build for scheduling & surgical management system as it relates to the cardiac surgical specialty.* Acts as clinical resource for and actively participates in curriculum design, ensuring competencies and specialty standards as it relates to cardiac surgical specialty.* Participates in the development of operational plans, standards and policies necessary to ensure optimal performance in cardiac surgical specialty.* Collaborates with Perioperative team and Materials Management for development, implementation & ongoing program coordination of implant, suture, specialty materials, custom procedure packs, procedure-based delivery, and clinical case cart systems as it relates to the cardiac surgical specialty.* Resource for Cardiac surgical specialty consumables and specialty instrumentation development for procurement through Support Services. * Collaborates with Perioperative team & Materials Manager for development, planning and ongoing coordination of Integrated OR solutions.* Works with internal and external project teams to provide informed and comprehensive expertise regarding the Cardiac surgical specialty. * Researches best practices for Cardiac surgical specialty for the Operating Room and presents information and recommendations to Senior Clinical Planning Consultant & appropriate planning departments. * Plans for processes to synthesize data, information and knowledge on client outcomes and modify interventions to improve health care outcomes.* Provides ongoing updates and recommendations to the Senior Consultant on progress and high risk tasks associated with the Cardiac surgical specialty.In view of the developing and changing needs and opportunities within Sidra during this start-up phase, this position may perform other duties as assigned.As the project moves towards opening, the duties of the position will be revised. The post holder will be kept appraised regarding development of the operational role and will be consulted as necessary regarding the job transition. The current post holder may transition into the new role following an appropriate selection process. ESSENTIAL* Demonstrated experience as a clinical nurse leader in pediatric cardiac surgery within the OR of an academic medical center.* Master's Degree in Nursing (Combinations of experience & education will be considered in lieu of Masters degree in nursing).* A post graduate qualification in perioperative nursing e.g. Certified Nurse of Operating Room (CNOR) by Certifying Board of AORN* Experience with Clinical Information systems either as an end user, super user or build contributor.* Ability to practice interdependently and independently beyond the advanced beginner stage.* Understand limits to one's scope of practice.* Ability to use risk analysis tools to anticipate risks to client safety.* Ability to access, critique, and analyze information sources.* Demonstrates excellence with communication and interpersonal skillsExperience in organizing data and generating thorough, accurate, timely reports.* Demonstrates knowledge of best practices in designated Operating Room specialty* Ability to manage group processes to meet care objectives and complete health care team responsibilities.DESIRABLE* Experience with design & planning for Cardiac hybrid suites* Experience in CIS systems build for Perioperative Services.* Familiarity with The Joint Commission International Standards. (JCI)* Ability to Design, coordinate, and evaluate plans of care. * Ability to integrate knowledge and skills acquired throughout the didactic and clinical education experiences. |
