Sidra's Day Procedures will have 53 bedsand the Special Procedures will have 7 beds.

Day Procedures is a patient care, research and teaching unit in which world class service will be provided in a culturally sensitive manner to adult and pediatric patients both pre and post-operative procedure including patients that have been assessed by Anesthesiology as suitable for Same Day Admit/Day Surgery or otherInterventional Services procedures. Post operative includes patients that have met discharge criteria from PACU and are clinically stable and patients who received sedation during an interventional procedure. The unit will treat patientsin Obstetric, Gynecological and Pediatric prior to their planned procedure and also provides Phase II recovery post procedure until discharge home. Types of patients served: Preoperative Same Day Admit /Day Surgery, Pre and Post Endoscopy, and Minor Procedures. Phase II recovery for outpatients that receive anesthetic/sedation including Cardiovascular Services, MRI, and IR.

The Special Procedures Unit is a patient care, research and teaching unit in which the latest technology, equipment and methods are used. World class service and culturally sensitive care will be provided for pediatric patients with gastroenterological (GI) hepatobiliary pulmonary and other conditions requiring minimally invasive or diagnostic and/or therapeutic intervention. The Unit will provide routine screening, diagnostic, therapeutic and minor surgical procedures for pediatric patients, both inpatient and outpatient. The Unit will treat patients with upper and lower gastrointestinal, pancreatic, hepatobiliary, and pulmonary disorders using a variety of specialized endoscopic and radiographic examinations. Other conditions that require minor procedural interventions are also carried out in the Special Procedures Unit.

Reporting to the Director of Perioperative Services the Manager for Day Procedures and Special procedures is responsible for evaluation, direction and administration of patient care delivery and the staff assigned to both units and in the pre-operational phase ensures that recruiting, commissioning, onboarding, orientation and service activation responsibilities are carried out in accordance with department and organization goals and objectives.

Requirements

* Evaluates and ensures effective and efficient patient flow
* Evaluates and ensures that clinical documentation, nursing diagnoses and plans of care are integrated and effective in delivering an individual plan of care
* Evaluates and ensures that individualized discharge planning needs are assessed on admission
* Evaluates and ensures a multidisciplinary approach to facilitate efficient and timely discharge/or transfer process to the next level of care or home
* Manages Day Procedure and Special Procedure budgetsand ensures that patient services are provided in a timely, efficient manner by utilizing the resources (manpower, material and equipment) of the unit
* Ensures that patient services are provided in accordance with established standards of nursing care, policies, guidelines and protocols of Sidra and the State of Qatar providing leadership in clinical operations of endoscopy and procedural unit
* Analyzes processes and ensures staffing ratios and patient assignments are reflective of patient census, acuity, level of education, and capabilities of staff
* Develops and implements new programs, unit specific policies and procedures and long range plans to meet department objectives.
* Ensures the appropriate selection, orientation, training, and performance evaluation of staff
* Assumes delegated responsibilities as assigned
* Acts as an administrative andclinical resource to physicians, nurses, patient care partners andancillary departments
* Provides effective leadership in emergency and stressful situations
* Develops and ensures implementation of effective communication tools
* Maintains clear communication with the Director of Perioperative Services regarding unit needs and/or incidents
* Evaluates and ensuresappropriate escalation of issues to meet patient/staff needs and resolve conflicts
* Seeks and facilitates research projects and quality improvement projects on unit
* Actively participates in and serves on institutional committees, as assigned
* Participates in self evaluations as requested, setting realistic goals
* Takes personal responsibilityto understand, complete and maintain the professional and technicallicensure/certifications/competencies required of the position and furnishes the necessary documentation to substantiate compliance
* Performs other position-appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional andcourteous manner. Participates in quality assessment and performanceimprovement planning, including utilization of key performance indicators (KPI's)
* Evaluates key requirements for clinical information systems to assure standardized IT processes
* Collaborates with clinical educators in planning, implementation and evaluation of patient and staff education requirements
* Fosters good public relations for the unit

In view of the developing and changing needs and opportunities within Sidra during this start-up phase, this position may perform other duties as assigned.

* Masters Degree in Nursing or health related field, or Masters in Business Administration from an accredited western university.
* Registered Nurse
* At least 7 years progressive nursing management experience including experience with procedural including endoscopy andpre and post operative procedure within an Academic Medical Center in North America, UK, Ireland, an EU State, South Africa, Australia or NewZealand
* Current Nursing Licence from country of origin
* Current certification as a BLS provider
* Experience in organizing data and generating thorough, accurate, timely reports
* Demonstrated experience withClinical Information Systems (CIS) either as an end user, super-user or asa contributor to a CIS build
* Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications
* Demonstrated experience with interviewing, hiring, mentoring and performance evaluation
* Demonstrated knowledge ofestablished pre-operative and post-operative and Endoscopy standards of care and to apply these standards of care to the analysis and development of policies, procedures,guidelines and ordersets, and protocols
* Demonstrated ability to assessand ensure unit readiness for TJC, JCI and/or other healthcareaccreditation surveys
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and group presentation skills
* Fluency in written and spokenEnglish
