Employment: Full Time

The Coding Auditor is responsible for monitoring coding for inpatient and outpatient records with respect to accuracy and compliance, in addition to providing coding quality reviews and education for the coding team. The individual will also act as a liaison to provide professional guidance to hospital staff involved in coding and documentation. The Coding Auditor performs DRG optimization audits and coding quality audits on all Inpatient, Observation, Day Surgery and outpatient records.

KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Performs coding quality reviews on inpatient and outpatient records to ensure 95% or greater accuracy and completeness of ICD-10Am and ACHI codes appropriateness.
- Reviews results of audits with Coding Manager and individual coders.
- Works with the Coding Manager to reconcile coding audits and resolve coding issues.
- Conducts audits for bill hold reports to identify any accounts greater than 7 days from discharge date but not yet coded
- Ensures coding processes are compliant and efficient
- Conducts audits to monitor communication and documentation changes in coding rules, regulations and policies that impact clinical documentation, reimbursement and coding have been communicated and documented as per guidelines
- Participates in review and revisions of the charge-master and pertinent billing functions and procedures and processes
- Collects and prepares data for studies involving inpatient and outpatient stays for audit purposes
- Develops detailed reports on audit findings
- Tracks, analyzes and publishes reports on the progress of action items
- Works cooperatively with revenue cycle departments, registration, schedulers, case managers, coding coordinators, coders, coding reconciliation specialists and compliance officer to collate data for conducting audits
- Serves as a resource person for the Health Information Management Department, Physicians and Practitioners to obtain information on accurate and ethical coding documentation standards guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Provides, or arranges for, training to coding and reimbursement specialists in the use of coding guidelines and practices, proper documentation techniques, and other clinical data management quality factors
- Adheres to Sidras standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies

In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra during this pre-operational phase, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.

Requirements

- Bachelors Degree in a related field.
- 5+ years of auditing experience.
- Experience in auditing of clinical information systems in a large healthcare facility.
- Credentialed Coder Certificate (CPC, CCS
- Registered Health Information Certificate (RHIT, RHIA).
- Proficiency in designing and conducting audits.
- Extensive Knowledge in ICD-10AM and ACHI coding knowledge.
- Strong broad-based clinical knowledge and understanding of pathology/physiology of disease processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
