Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The Commercial Manager – Exhibitions and Events will be responsible for managing all day-to-day activities related to business development for the, Exhibitions and future commercial business tourism activities for the client.
Key focus area – across all venues and will drive and be responsible for the following tasks:
- Driving the performance of the client venues exhibition and event business.
- Fully integrate with all the venue commercial, delivery teams and drive revenues and manage cost base.
- Implement full new business development, including procedures specific to the client’s business model including stage gates, international business development, product and calendar placement / development and growth.
- Profile and sector development, award, interface using close liaison with all associated bodies both industry and regulative.
- Own the implementation of the venue strategy, including the initiation for event by event sales activities in-line with the objective of creating a must attend activity calendar and full integration for 24 / 7 business across the projects assigned to the client Venues.
- Aggressive growth and business development maximizing the potential of all touch points.
- Develop new concepts for events integrated with the client's philosophies.

Additionally, this position will provide oversight and be held accountable for fulfilling the following:

Managerial/ leadership functions:
- Collaborate with all elements to improve cross-functional collaboration and drive new business
- Direct and lead a small team to maximise the opportunities available.
- Manage operational interfaces with external and internal partners
- Provide and present monthly reports

Key Collaboration Network
- Effective communication and information sharing with subsidiary management and strategic and business development functions
- Coordination with finance function on new investment opportunities
- To develop and maintain a close working relationship with all international, regional and local associations and governing bodies who operate within the global Exhibitions and event sector.

Key immediate focus
- To have specific responsibility for promoting and selling the facilities and services of the Qatar National Convention Centre to all third party exhibition organisers.

Key Performance Metrics
- Achievement of targets, growth and financial results
- Increase and develop revenue to the bottom line
- New business development
- Number of business initiatives (i.e. investment opportunities, new assets)

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing or related field
- 10 yrs business development experience in an international exhibition and event business
- Demonstrated experience increasing year on year revenues as per commercial targets
- In-depth industry knowledge and exposure
- Proven relationships, database and network of industry contacts
- Ability to create relationships with key decision makers
- Demonstrated management experience managing teams to deliver set targets
- Keen awareness of industry trends, products and services
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation and influencing skills
