Commercial Manager

Reporting to the Project Manager, responsibilities will include:

* Commercial assurance services on behalf of the client
* Auditing of monthly applications from the client
* Producing monthly earned value reports
* Assisting in the negotiation/review of the target price during the development phase
* Reviewing/agreeing compensation events on behalf of the Project Manager/Supervisor
* Reviewing/updating the employers risk register
* Reviewing programme updates (where applicable, or arranging for reviews by specialists)
* Contributing to performance reporting of task delivery
* Preparing monthly applications of project delivery
* Financial reporting and monitoring of overall project financial performance
* Overseeing the working capital position on the project, and supporting project management teams when direct senior contact with clients is required to resolve working capital issues
* Monitoring and advising on compliance with internal governance and contractual commercial obligations
* Ensuring IMS compliant records are kept of all project variations which have fee and/or programme implications
* Working with the Project Manager to advise and recommend more cost-effective methods of delivery where appropriate
* Where appropriate assisting in the development of project financial recovery strategie; Attendance at monthly credit control meetings and dealing with actions arising
* Overall commercial management of the division's projects against agreed targets for profit and ROCE for each project

Requirements

The successful candidate with have a background in construction or engineering and commercial management experience and will have been involved in heavy civils projects such as Port projects; Technical background with strong commercial acumen; Proven successful commercial manager of a portfolio of projects; Understanding and experience in using management accounting tools;

Experience of putting together complex financial proposals; 15+ years of relevant consulting industry experience; BSc Engineering or Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualifications; Experience in design and build projects preferable; Strong verbal and written communication skills, good report writing, analytical and computer skills; The ability to build and maintain sound working relationships with the client's project team is essential, together with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure and demonstrate a proactive and flexible approach.
