Oman Communications and External Affairs (C&EA) Team Manager

Role:
- The Oman C&EA Team Manager will be responsible for helping BP Oman Management develop a close relationship with the government in Oman, to be responsible for BPs internal and external communications in the country, external affairs, and social investment.
- BP recently launched an ambitious multi-million dollar social investment program focused on education, enterprise and energy sustainability in Oman. It is a world-class program. The Social Investment Plan aims to address non-technical risks and deliver sustainable benefits for local communities in order to build, maintain and enhance crucial relationships with stakeholders, and to create long-term partnerships that will be important for the success of the operations. The C&EA Team Manager will be responsible for delivery of the program and also to help develop future phases and any enhancements.
- The C&EA Manager will also need to feed into the "In Country Value" delivery team in BP Oman (local content development)
- The C&EA Team Manager will have ~3-5 people reporting to them. A communications manager, a social investment lead, two community liason officers, and an events manager.
- The C&EA Team Manager will oversee BP community relations work in Oman, overseeing and planning day-to-day community liaison work.
- The C&EA Team Manager will sit on the BP Oman Leadership team and will be responsible for assisting the BP Oman Leadership team in delivery of their business objective (Understanding the business strategy and plans for BPs businesses in Oman, notably in Block 61, and identifying where the Communications and External Affairs team can add value)
- This role is open for Omani nationals only.

Key accountabilities:
- The C&EA Team Manager will be responsible for helping BP Oman management develop close relationships with the government in Oman, to be responsible for BPs internal and external communications in the country, external affairs, and social investment.
- Develop and maintain company relationships with key federal government officials, as well as key opinion-formers, local/regional government officials, NGOs and employees;
- Lead the Oman C&EA team in all aspects of their delivery internal communications, external communications, Emergency Response communications and the EP plan wrt C&EA, government affairs, social responsibility, community relations, media relations, etc and manage a significant budget;
- Provide strategic and specific advice and assistance on government affairs issues (business development, risk matrix, incident management, etc.) for Omans senior leadership team;
- Manage several international communications companies with significant contracts with BP Oman

Requirements

- University Degree
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
- Strong bias for proactive delivery
- Excellent communication skills and able to engage internal and external stakeholders well.
- Dual English / Arabic fluency
- Proven ability to lead the delivery of successful and sustainable social investment projects
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment with respect to diversity
- Strong preference for somebody with proven track-record of delivery working at senior levels of business and politics in Oman
- Ability to understand the priorities of government counterparts, and to persistently deliver BPs message in a way which maximizes and matches with the governments agenda in the oil and gas sector;
- Ability to see the big picture - broad political, macroeconomic and industry view.

Other Requirements (eg Travel, Location):
- This role is open for Omani Nationals only.

Desirable criteria & qualifications:
- Knowledge of the area and the communities around Block 61 is desirable;
- Knowledge of oil and gas industry
- Masters Degree
