Compliance Manager, (Transactional Banking and Corporate and Institutional Clients), UAE and MENAP

Job Description
The purpose of the role is to provide compliance coverage for both Corporate & Institutional Clients (CIC) segment and Transaction Banking (TB) product business. The role covers Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan with product coverage of Trade Finance, Cash Management, Securities services and Loans.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Product & Business Advisory
* Support the Regional Head of CIC Compliance and Regional Head of TB Compliance in providing compliance advise to both business areas.
* Undertake product review and approval for both existing and new products with close collaboration with key stakeholders in the business, Legal, Credit, Tax and other infrastructure areas.
* Collaborate closely with the Financial Crime Compliance teams in resolving issues arising from both business areas.
* Identify material regulatory and reputational risks with timely escalation to key stakeholders and tracking matters to completion.
* Anticipate and assess present and future regulatory and product risk trends in the business for effective management.
* Represent CIC Compliance and TB Compliance in the business operational governance committees in the absence of the regional heads.
* Assist Country L&C teams within the region with TB product line and CIC segment expertise.

Monitoring & Control
* As an independent guardian, understand the risk control framework within the bank and actively work with both business areas in their maintenance of a robust risk control environment.
* Work collaboratively with the business, Operational Risk and Country Compliance teams in the management of the Operational Risk Framework where compliance is a risk owner.
* Ensure appropriate documentation of control decisions taken by compliance for both business areas.
* Assist in the development of Compliance policies and procedures applicable to both business areas.
* Work closely with Regional Head of CIC Compliance and Regional Head of TB Compliance to develop compliance monitoring programmes for both businesses.
* Review of incidents and control breaches with timely escalation to key stakeholders within the L&C function and the business.

Training
* Deliver educational programmes to the business on relevant laws, regulations and policies under the guidance of Regional Head of CIC Compliance and Regional Head of TB Compliance.
* Assists in the development of an effective internal business compliance culture by promoting the benefits of ethical business conduct and the benefits of compliance.

Partnership
* Build strong relationships with relevant stakeholders in the business, in the L&C function and in other infrastructure areas.
* Keep all relationships on a strong, professional and collegial footing.

Requirements

* University graduate
* Good knowledge and experience in the banking industry, regulatory compliance and financial crime risk compliance
* Core ability to analyse relevant laws and regulations and co-relate regulatory issues to products and business models.
* Experience in risk identification, risk assessment, and challenging control environments
* Understanding of Trade Finance, Cash Management and Lending is preferable. Training in these products will also be provided.
* Ability to use own initiative in investigating and analysing compliance issues
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Great organisation skills and high attention to detail
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
* A strong team player who is able to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues in Legal and Compliance as well as the business
