The RoleThe RoleUnicorn Capital Saudi Arabia (UCSA), majority owned by Unicorn Investment Bank (Unicorn), has received approval from Saudi Arabia’s Capital Market Authority (CMA) to commence operations in the Kingdom. Unicorn Capital Saudi Arabia will provide the Saudi market with an integrated and comprehensive range of Islamic investment products and services, with the full support and depth of Unicorn Investment Bank, an established Islamic investment bank headquartered in Bahrain. To oversee UCSA’s Compliance activities, functioning independently & objectively by reviewing & evaluating compliance issues/concerns within UCSA. The Compliance Officer is responsible to ensure that the Bank’s Board of Directors, Management & Employees are fully aware of the rules & the regulatory requirements of regulatory bodies and agencies in addition to compliance status with internal policies & procedures; Responsibilities: • Perform as Compliance Officer on all regulatory issues as well as Basel Committee requirements • Prepare management reports, highlighting the business risks and non-compliance of guidelines • Ensuring compliance with Board of Directors & all committees decisions and investment guidelines • Maintain the filing system (electronic & physical) • Review CMA, Tadawul & other regulatory circulars and papers • Act as the Compliance Officer for UCSA Brokerage activity • Serve, as needed, as Secretary to the Board of UCSA and on the Board Audit Committee of UCSA • Liaise with Compliance Officer(s) & other counterparties at Unicorn Investment Bank, Bahrain re Group needs & requirements • Communicate with the CMA, Tadawul & all other relevant Regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with all their requirements • Communicate news/updates on regulatory requirements to responsible Departments/Functions and direct compliance issues to Senior Management / Internal Audit for investigation & resolution • Maintain a complete & up-to-date Compliance Checklist of all applicable regulatory requirements including periodic & ad-hoc reporting and follow-up on outstanding issues • Maintain adequate records/copies of all incoming/ outgoing correspondences with regulators • Track all communication and follow-up with regulators on outstanding matters/certain approval requests • Perform necessary compliance reviews/extend assistance to UIB, Bahrain and other Group entities with regards to compliance matters • Update the relevant parts of the PPM’s and guides that relate to general compliance matters including Internal Control/Internal Audit/Internal Processes • Provide training/presentations on key compliance areas/emerging issues in order to ensure adequate staff awareness • Participate, serve and assist at Board of Directors Meetings, act as Board Secretary, document decisions and monitor executions |
RequirementsRequirementsQualifications: • 2-3 years of relevant experience with major commercial banks, international brokers or fund managers, preferably in compliance function, legal/general counsel, risk, audit • Educational and Professional qualifications (JD/LLB or equivalent or Business administration) • Strong management skills • Strong presentation, business writing, interpersonal & supervisory • Excellent written & oral communication in both Arabic and in English • Saudi Nationals are preferred |
