This is a Fixed Term Contract for 6 Months

Our Client a leading bank is looking for a Compliance Specialist. The candidate will be required to provide support specific to the GWM UAE business but also when required the broader MENA GWM business. The position is based at the Dubai Financial Centre, Dubai, UAE.

As a Compliance professional, the individual would be responsible for supporting the coverage of all GWM activities in the Dubai office.
In addition, the individual would be expected to provide support to various initiatives that establish or strengthen the firms presence in the MENA region as required, including to provide assistance with Compliance coverage to other offices. Many of the responsibilities outlined below may therefore extend to other offices.

Requirements

Provide day-to-day Compliance coverage for the businesses in the Dubai branch.
Support the management of relationships with local business and support managers for those businesses.
Become fully acquainted with applicable regulatory requirements (DFSA, DIFX, DME, etc.) and firm policy issues and requirements.
Provide pro-active, timely advice on the relevant regulatory and firm policy requirements in respect of ad hoc queries, specific transactions, new product initiatives, etc.
Provide assistance to business groups in the development of supervisory practices.
Assist in preparing for regulatory visits, including conducting reviews of affected areas; briefing relevant staff; co-ordinating the logistics of the visit and accompanying the regulators whilst at the firm; and contributing to the follow-up issues, including correspondence, arising.
Ensure timely and accurate responses to regulatory enquiries relating to the above areas including discussion with regulatory bodies of information required and deadlines, and liaison with internal groups to obtain information. Review data obtained and prepare correspondence for internal review prior to responding.
Identify and analyse regulatory changes likely to impact the branch, escalate to both functional mgmt and the appropriate business and support groups and co-ordinate responses to consultation documents as appropriate. Provide guidance on, and assist with, implementation of changes.
Participate as required in department initiatives in respect of regulatory developments and impact analysis on the firms business and support groups.
Liaise and provide guidance to Legal & Compliance colleagues in EMEA and other regions in respect of UAE/Dubai and if required MENA issues.
Prepare and deliver compliance training for branch employees.
Liaise with the EMEA Compliance Surveillance team and assist in identifying and investigating exceptions, and escalate as required.

Skills/Experience

Previous experience of regulation and compliance within the UK, European or UAE markets although a background in legal or other areas will be considered. And ideally within Wealth Management.

Good understanding of rules and regulations across the jurisdiction in which GWIM Operates within the Dubai region and able to conduct monitoring and testing for GWIM.

Strong product knowledge and a desire to learn is required. The ability to work in a pressurized environment, with constantly changing priorities and tight deadlines is required.

Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to interact with staff from different areas at all levels of seniority.
