Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Construction Coordinator to support the construction function to deliver a QAR 10 billion portfolio of education, medical, marine and general building projects for Government clients. A key function is management of the PWA interface with the Programme Management Consultant (PMC).

Responsibilities:
* Work collaboratively with consultants and contractors to ensure portfolio delivery within quality, time and financial objectives. In particular, ensure that Health, Safety, Environment and Security requirements are communicated and implemented during construction.
* Communicate and enforce sustainability targets for each project during the construction stage.
* Assist in management of risk across the portfolio, and preparation of regular reports and briefing papers on the status of construction risk and mitigation plans.
* Measurement of performance of the PMC, consultants and contractors, and incorporation into a feedback process to ensure continuous improvement to meet PWA needs.
* Organise and conduct reviews of construction method statements for constructability, quality and HSE issues.
* Support the development an integrated logistics plan for the programme to include temporary infrastructure facilities, traffic control, environmental pollution control, cleaning, trash removal, and aesthetic issues relating to hoardings and temporary works.
* Arrange and record construction progress and co-ordination meetings at regular intervals.
* Input to an overall monthly report on construction activities which clearly indicates:
* Progress against schedule, summarising key production output data and trends
* Progress against budget
* Areas of concern and proposed action
* Support the process of testing, commissioning and handover of completed projects for beneficial use to clients.

Requirements

Mandatory Requirements:
* Degree from a recognized university in an appropriate field such as: Civil Engineering; or Construction Management. Degrees in other relevant fields may also be considered.
* Driver's License.
* Proficient in English, written and spoken.

Desirable Requirement:
* Chartered engineer status from a recognized institution.
* Experience of working in the Gulf region.

Experience & Knowledge
* A minimum of 10 years experience in managing large projects and building programs.
* Experience from the client side in the procurement of multiple construction projects.
* Management and Administration of consultant and contractor contracts related to the delivery of building projects.
* Experience in the management of a team of professional staff.
* Experience in the development and implementation of quality, health and safety, & environmental targets and implementation during construction.
* Experience in the commissioning and handover process through to final account and project close out.
