Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The Construction Director has responsibility for the administration of the entire programme (31 individual projects) from commencement of the work on site through to the completion and handover of the project to the Client. The Construction Director reports to the Project Director and executive board.

• Organizes the Supervision Team and allocates responsibility for HSE cost control supervision and document control procedures
• Distributes the Contract Documents for signature by the parties
• Reviews the Contract Insurances, Bonds, Advance Payment Guarantee
• Reviews the PSSP, Clause 14 Programme, QA & QC Plan and Organisation Chart
• Ensures that KAWSP company procedure are followed
• Reviews and responds to all claims submitted by the Contractor
• Supports the supervision team in their endeavors
• Adopts a pro-active safety policy

Strategic Leadership:

• Establishes a good working relation with the stakeholders
• Adopts a fair and reasonable approach in dealing with contractual disputes
• Recognises and shows appreciation of individual staff accomplishments
• Offers advice and guidance on how individuals performance can be improved
• Provides support and follow-up on issues regarding staff problems

Operational and Technical Leadership:

• Ensures quality of the work through implementing inspection procedures
• Provides assistance and support to the supervision team in technical matters
• Promotes a team effort approach with KAWSP staff in dealings with the Contractor
• Demonstrate awareness of overall progress of the works
• Maintains regular contact with Quantity Surveyor regarding matters related to costs

Client/Stakeholder Management and Reputation:

• Communicates effectively with the Client and other Stakeholders on all matters that may impact Contract duration or Contract Value
• Advises the Client regarding any contractual matters and provides recommendations for resolving contractual disputes

People Leadership:

• Promote a team effort approach by involving all members in discussions where appropriate
• Recognize an achievements and encourage self awareness
• Discuss problems, technical issues on regular basis with other members of the Team
• Encourage training and career development of individuals

Key Metrics / Targets:

• Delays are minimize
• Quality of work is satisfactory
• Claims are handled effectively
• Close-out procedure are completed on time
• Project is delivered on time or within the shortest practical period

Requirements

• BEng / BSc (Hon) degree or equivalent discipline with minimum 20 years’ experience
• Member of associated Professional body
• C.Eng preferred
• Experience and proven ability to lead and manage an engineering team and multi-disciplinary projects
• Experienced user of Microsoft Office
• Regional experience preferred
• Comprehensive experience of technical design and associated discipline software
• Road/Highway/Major Infrastructure project experience essential
