Job description / Role
Our client, a leading integrated construction company, is looking for a construction disputes expert.
Working for a large conglomerate with 18,000 employees you will be responsible for managing the caseload of construction disputes, including:
• Drawing on commercial experience, conducting site visits and meetings with the contracts managers to understand complex contractual issues
• Providing advice to senior management regarding disputes and the most effective solutions
• When necessary, instructing External Counsel in Arbitration and Litigation proceedings
• Managing proceedings process, checking work and recommendations of counsels, providing expert witness on technical and other matters and ensuring the company’s best interests are served
• Maintaining contact with contracts managers to anticipate issues and providing advice on how to minimize risk
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
• Strong experience in a construction/contracting company or consultancy
• Expert knowledge of construction contracts
• Experience dealing with construction disputes and appointing legal counsels
• Fluency speaking and reading in Arabic and English
• At least 1 year’s experience working in Abu Dhabi
• In depth understanding of UAE litigation and arbitration procedures
• Technical know-how of the construction industry
• A proven track regard of dealing with contractual issues commercially
This is a new position for the company so the ideal candidate must be self-motivated and experienced in all aspects of construction disputes.
