Employment: Full Time

STR Global, working in partnership with a leading main contractor in Qatar is recruiting for a Construction Manager (Asphalt & Roads)

Key Deliverables:
Supervise the whole process from the conceptual development stage through final construction stage by planning and managing all on-site construction activities and ensure its execution in adherence to the plans at the required quality, standards and specifications and within the defined time frame.

Job Description:
Manage the execution of construction plans using the specified resources and equipment, planning and following up day-to-day activities and programmes.

Supervise all on-site operations including land clearing, excavation, utilities laying, sub-grade/sub-base laying, asphalt laying, asphalt paving, etc. and ensuring its implementation in alignment with the project plans and within the specified budget.

Ensure that all operations are being held as per the standard construction methods and procedures and complies with standards and regulations, and take all safety precautions, permits and licenses prior to work execution.

Lead the completion of all required tasks on time and request modifications in plans and schedules when needed.

Make sure that all discrepancies and non-conformities are being resolved and report any obstacles or conflicts to the concerned parties.

Manage the implementation of method statements, review all correspondences and ensure that all construction related documents are being properly maintained and available when needed.

Participate in the selection and recommendation of suppliers and subcontractors based on past experience

Meet with subcontractors to discuss technical matters and agree on timeframe, procedures and methods to be followed, and follow up on their work progress on a regular basis.

Study and analyze the contract and ensure that subordinates have a clear understanding of contractual requirements and perform their work accordingly.

Prepare reports regarding various construction operations held on-site, clarify work methodologies, resources and equipment, building codes used, adherence to safety and environment standards and regulations, quality of work and expenditures.

Ensure that adequate resources are being provided, specify plant equipment requirements and deal with any shortages or inconvenience in materials or equipments.

Requirements

Skills:
Detailed knowledge of latest technology and procedures in Asphalt
Knowledge in Resources Management
Knowledge in materials and equipment used in asphalt construction (i.e. Wirtgen Asphalt Milling Machines, Vogelle Asphalt Pavers, Hamm Pneumatic rollers, Hamm steel rollers, Hoffman road marking machines & glass bead dispensers, Wacker Neuson Tower Lights)
Managerial skills
Organizational skills
Analytical skills
Communication skills (Proficient in English language is a must)

Qualifications:
BE in Civil Engineering
12 years of related experience. Preferably GCC experience.
