Executive Solutions in partnership with Faithful+Gould / Atkins are looking to recruit a Project Director – Infra-Structure, Highways and Bridges for their Multi-Billion projects in Abu Dhabi.

The Construction Manager coordinates and supervises the construction process from the conceptual development stage through final construction, making sure that the project is completed on time and within budget. The Construction Manager evaluates and helps determine appropriate construction delivery systems and the most cost-effective plan and schedule for completing the project. The Construction Manager oversees the performance of all trade contractors and is responsible for ensuring that all work is completed on schedule. The Construction Manager may direct the work of several subordinates, such as Assistant Managers or superintendents, MEP coordinator, Senior Quantity Surveyors, Planners and Site Staff.

The Construction Manager’s responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

• Monitoring consultants for compliance with their contractual responsibilities.
• Monitoring suitability and availability of drawings and other data to ensure the contractor has the right information for the work in hand.
• Monitoring staffing levels and suitability of abilities for outstanding work items.
• Monitoring quality of product / information / coordination provided by the consultant.
• Monitoring the quality and timeliness of inspections carried out by the consultant.
• Monitoring contractors for compliance with their contractual responsibilities.
• Monitoring progress of the works for compliance with schedule.
• Ensuring that appropriate planning tools are implemented by the contractor, including accurate look ahead schedules.
• Ensuring that materials for the works are submitted for approval in time, delivered on time and suitably stored on site prior to incorporation in the works.
• Ensuring that client furnished materials are requested in sufficient time to permit purchase and deliver to site without delay to the schedule.
• Ensuring that each contractor complies with the current coordinated method statement for coordinating with other contractors.
• Monitoring contractor’s compliance with security requirements.
• Immediate reporting of any infraction or occurrence that constitutes a serious infraction or emergency.
• Ensuring issues related to projects are properly entered into the issue logs and are then addressed and resolved in an appropriate fashion.
• Reviewing the consultants / cost department’s cost tracking data to ensure that approved contingencies and allowances are not exceeded.
• Recommending approvals / disapproval of variation orders within the established authority limits.
• Establishing and maintaining the procedures for meetings, meeting documentation, follow up and tracking of issues and participate actively in resolving outstanding issues.
• Receiving all project related correspondence and communication and providing direction and action to his team including consultants and contractors.
• Identifying and minimising the risks for potential claims.
• Reviewing, analysing and preparing recommended actions for disputes and claims.
• Preparing documentation for all occurrences in the field on a daily basis.
• Coordinating claim mitigation, contract interpretation and cost analysis for submitted claims and maintaining all relevant documentation.
• Reviewing contractor submitted resumes and plans for contract compliance.
• Coordinating and managing pre-bid activities including meetings, addenda, answers to bidder questions and bid evaluation.

Requirements

To be shortlisted for this role you will have a minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Engineering with a total of 15 years working experience out of which 5 years working in the UAE or GCC.

Candidates should have previous experience in dealing with UAE municipality regulations and contract conditions and be able to demonstrate delivery of large scale road / highways projects as well as rail networks.
