Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Core Responsibilities:

• Read specifications, such as blueprints, to monitor procedures in relation to the assigned package.
• Oversee the work being carried out by contractors on regular basis to assess timeliness and quality.
• Issue violation notices and stop-work orders, conferring with owners, violators, and authorities to explain regulations and recommend rectifications.
• Inspect buildings, wiring, plumbing, electrical circuits, foundations during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to specifications and codes.
• Monitor installation of plumbing, wiring, and other equipment to ensure that installation is performed properly and is in compliance with applicable regulations.
• Inspect and monitor construction sites to ensure adherence to safety standards, environmental regulations, building codes, and specifications.
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures and fixtures to ensure compliance to building plans and codes.
• Maintain daily logs and supplement inspection records with photographs.
• Perform inspections by using survey instruments, metering devices, tape measures, and test equipment, such as concrete strength measurers.
• Certify invoices at various stages of completion of work as per authority levels assigned.
• Ensure Zero discrepancy or omissions contained within the drawings, specifications and Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
• Review the procurement strategy of the Contractors.
• Expedite all the shop drawings, RFI, MAS and approvals.
• Evaluate and challenge all the Engineering Instructions (EIs) that have an impact on the project triple constrains (Quality, time and cost).
• Mange the interfaces between the Theater site, Intercontinental Hotel and W Hotel.
• Monitor and maintain the project construction schedule on a weekly basis and highlight/report proactively any slippage and recommend recovery plans.
• Identify the construction risk and set a mitigation plan.
• Coordinate & Liaise for any site issues with the specialized consultants appointed by Omran.
• Review and evaluate variation orders and claims and participate in negotiation and claim resolution.
• Develop a disciplinary training program for young Omani engineers at site, supervise their performance and report to the Sr. Construction Manager.
• Manage the project close –out process.

Requirements

Qualification & Experience:

• Degree in Civil Engineering (Building)/ Construction Management.
• Minimum of 20 years experience in construction of hospitality, commercial and residential projects.
• Minimum 10 years experience as a construction manager for hospitality projects.
• Completed at least (5) hotels with the same magnitude and standard.
