Construction/Contracts Manager

Job description / Role

Our company seeks an experienced Construction/Contracts Manager for an expected project in Somaliland. The project is to construct affordable housing units for an UN funded project. Must be able to plan and schedule project timelines using project management software. Also, be able to track and report progress and deal with unexpected delays. Able to reconcile architectural drawings against site conditions including changing weather conditions. Needs to have an ability to manage a team of workers, equipment, and supplies while identifying potential risks. Excellent communication, negotiation, and time management skills are a must. Detail oriented individual that is able to coordinate all necessary resources, complete required documentation, and maintain strict quality control and safety procedures.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

* A minimum of 8 years of total experience
* A minimum of 8 years of experience in large multi-housing residence units or similar works
* A minimum of 3 years of experience as a manager
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Construction Management or related field
* Previous experience working in East Africa, ideally Somaliland
* If not currently living in Somaliland willing to relocate for approximately seven months
* Excellent level of English both written and spoken
* Experience in reading and interpreting architectural drawings
* Prior contracts experience
* Experience in construction projects over at least US$350,000
