Due to continued success in the country we are now seeking an experienced Contract Specialist to join our already established team in Qatar.

The Contract Specialist will report directly to the Senior Contracts Manager.

The Contract Specialist will take a leading role within the Contracts Team, the team will consist of other commercial professionals with specialisms in contracts, claims, litigation and arbitration.

The Contract Specialist will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, issuing and advising on Qatari contracts; and setting the standards by which other contracts shall be written. Closing out contracts upon completion of the contracts, resolves all conflicts, and the final disposition of payments, obtaining the appropriate release of claims documentation.

Responsibilities
- Preparation and presentation of a suite of new government contracts
- Drafting and advising on local Qatari contracts
- Taking legislation from draft to consultation and ultimate approval from Qatars Council of ministers.
- Engages, instructs, manages and peer reviews the delivery of procured contracts
- Directs and coordinates the work of the project and its team members
- Evaluate and monitor contract performance to determine necessity for amendments or extensions of contracts, and compliance to contractual obligations.
- Prepare price negotiation memoranda, outlining in writing the details of negotiations with contractors in competitive and non-competitive negotiations.

Requirements

- Western educated and holder of a law degree from a recognised university.
- Minimum of 10 years experience writing, reviewing and approving legal contracts.
- Experienced of operating at Ministerial level
- Worked in a professional law firm as a solicitor
- Excellent Commercial and Contract Management experience
- Experience of Dispute Management, Dispute Avoidance and Dispute Resolution an advantage.
- Be able to provide both summarised and detailed reports, on current activities and ability to present directly to the client
- Excellent written and spoken English
- 3 years of Middle East experience in Qatar experience drafting and advising on local Qatari contracts
- IT Literacy with Microsoft Office suite of tools
