Contracts & Commercial Manager

Job description / Role

To lead and manage the contracts & commercial support functions within the Business Units in order to provide excellent support to engineering, project development, sales & marketing and project delivery functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review of contractual letter from clients and major subcontractors and responding or reviewing / providing contractual assistance for the same.
- Respond / offer assistance / draft in timely manner.
- Timely notification of known delays / disruptions /extra work by making regular contemporary records through projects tem as delays stoppage arise.
- Liaison with project team in seeking extension of time and drafting where applicable also formulation of variation orders.
- Revision / assist project team in preparation of claims, regular tracking and follow-up of claims.
- Update copy of signed contract documents to include all amendments and search out pre-award letters.
- Post contract administration of contracts including processing of interim invoice applications, re-measurement of work and preparation / evaluation of claims variations and settlement of final accounts.
- Liaise with the contracts control division, finance and legal dept to ensure that contract strategies, tender and contracts are in full compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Coordination for preparation of contracts appreciation documents.
- Claim and change management with clients and subcontractors.
- Keep up to date with market trends and new developments utilizing information for business improvement.
- Research vendors / suppliers capabilities; identity a pool of candidate vendors / suppliers for project consideration.
- Conduct the financial and contract negotiations at the appropriate management level.
- Review tender documents and offer comments on condition of contract favouring the company and convey the risk evaluation of various terms and conditions.
Experience in Gulf would be an added advantage

Requirements

- B.Sc Quantity Survey / Contract Management / degree in law specializing in the construction industry.
- 15 to 20 years of experience

The person should have handled substations or power projects or other major electrical Projects.
