Job description / Role
The project consists of the construction supervision of several simultaneous construction projects (dams and associated river training works) in various locations of Sur to protect the city from flood events.
The project is divided into 2 packages:
- Construction Supervision of Flood Protection Dam (Concrete and Earth dams)
- Construction Supervision of River Training including, channel excavation and slope protection works
Both packages are in progress with another two years to run.
Client: Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources (MRMWR)
The Works comprise:
- The construction of approx. 1km of earth dam with gabions spillway and 200m of concrete spillways and stilling basin
- Construction of earth saddle dam between 200-700m long
- Relocation of existing facilities and roads
- 7km of River Training, 100-200m wide with non-spilling levees and slope protection with Reno mattresses and concrete walls
Requirements
- BSc. or post graduate chartered Quantity Surveyor
- Must have Chartered Quantity Surveying Certificate from an internationally recognized organization
- Minimum 10 years of experience in large dam engineering
- Minimum 15 years experience in increasingly responsible positions
- Must have worked on the cost estimation of at least 2 major projects OMR30m plus in construction value
- Knowledge of Contract Conditions and Quantity Surveying Techniques
- Advanced English (business fluent)
- Competency in AutoCAD in order to take off quantities from drawings
- Able to use Primavera effectively
- Should be able to Review monthly IPC from contractors in due time to enable a smooth payment process
- Actively develop and maintain good relations with the Contractors, Client and all other stakeholders
- Shall be organised, pro-active and co-operative
- Ability to assess and provide input on Contract Administration fundamentals such as Variation Orders, Extensions of Time, etc.
- Should have knowledge and previous proven experience of the local conditions of Contract or FIDIC red book
