Contracts Specialist

Job description / Role

Responsible for organizing and managing internal QS Dept, for provision of the standard QS functions of cost estimating, tendering and post contract administration in a competent and professional manner to support the Team and Company.
• Ensure timely and clear verbal/written communication to minimize risk and enhance efficiency and value for the Company at all times
• Maintain professional and ethical standards
• Adopt a philosophy of continuous improvement in all areas
• Manage QS Team, organize workload and motivate Team ensuring targets are met
• Organise the production of estimates and Cost Plan’s of proposed projects in an structured format that is suitable for analysis and issue Reports
• Identify possible economies through Value Management and Life Cycle costing
• Have ongoing understanding of the economic climate (construction market, materials, labour etc.) and ensure rates database is maintained
• Be able to recommend suitable tendering procedures and appropriate contractual arrangements for projects
• Manage tender document preparation (allocation of staff and resources, managing programme etc.)
• Dealing with external Consultants and advising colleagues of discussions in a documented format

Requirements

Educational Qualifications:

• Primary Degree in Quantity Surveying
• MRICS qualified

Experience:

• Minimum 20 years experience
• Previous management experience in a similar Department or Organization
• Further post graduate qualifications such as Dispute Resolution would be an advantage
