Employment: Full Time

The Coordinator - Emergency/Safety Response is responsible for implementing emergency program and for continuously improving safety and emergency response processes at Sidra Campus as well as Offsite Warehouse. He/She is a member of Facility Safety and Performance Department and a key member in emergency response team. This position is subject to a 24-hour on call work schedules in the event of an emergency and willing to be relocated to emergency sites with little notice and shall deploy as soon as notified to respond. This role requires irregular and/or long working hours coordinates emergency disaster response or crisis management activities and provides disaster preparedness training. He/She leads & conducts Risk Assessments, Audits and inspections. Performs event reviews and reports. Maintains adequate documentation/files to support emergency response and risk assessment activities.

- Provides guidance and recommendations to employees and leadership regarding regulatory requirements and effective approaches to improving and maintaining safety performance & emergency response.
- Audits Sidra processes and procedures to verify regulatory compliance and process effectiveness
- Leads site efforts of continuous improvement in the following areas:
- safety program compliance
- site emergency response program
- behavioral based safety
- employee and contractor emergency/safety training and awareness
- hazard recognition and control programs
- site incident investigation and reduction
- safety related training
- implement processes associated with emergency/safety initiative
- Maintains general awareness on all key emergency/safety issues within functional area and identifies priority issues for the site
- Acts as site liaison with regulatory agencies and inspectors as required
- Recommends indicators and targets for emergency/safety performance
- Participates in Sidrawide safety and emergency preparedness networks and taskforse as required
- Provides back-up support for emergency/safety staff, as needed
- Coordinates disaster response or crisis management activities and provides all required support to emergency manager and emergency specialist.
- Coordinates emergency/disaster preparedness training courses that teach staff how to effectively respond to major emergencies and disasters.
- Maintains and updates all resource materials associated with emergency preparedness plans.
- Prepares emergency situation status reports that describe response and recovery efforts, needs, and preliminary damage assessments.
- Attends meetings, conferences, and workshops related to emergency management in order to learn new information and to develop working relationships with other emergency management specialists.
- Implements training procedures and strategies for radiological protection, detection, and decontamination.
- Keeps accurate chemical inventory for all facility divisions and also on the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all facility divisions, and ensures proper labeling and storage for all chemicals in the facility
- Coorinates incident response training to first-responders and Emergency Services staff in identification and handling of hazardous material and use of protective clothing and equipment; provides general safety training to staff.
- Maintains accurate emergency drills records for all regulatory agencies.
- Assist the Emergency Specialist to ensure Sidras safety goals are met by overseeing and maintaining day-to-day safety programs at Sidras facilities
- Maintains continuous improvement strategies and programs to achieve and sustain Health & Safety throughout Sidra.
- Inspects and tours organization facilities to detect existing or potential safety and health risks, and recommends corrective or preventative measures.
- Advises management on safety issues and recommend ways to improve the safety of our operations
- Follows up with departmental management to ensure that recommendations are implemented as required
- Communicates general emergency & safety requirements and assist departments in implementing responsive programs, promote and encourage the safe utilization of equipment and facilities
- Ensures proper emergency/safety apparel, equipment and services are provided.
- Conducts inspections, investigations, and surveys to determine compliance with local and international codes and regulations.
- Collects and analyzes technical data; collects evidence for legal cases.
- Assess training needs; assist in developing additional training curriculum as necessary
- Develops a pre- and post-drill report for annual emergency drills
- Coordinates and maintain emergency notification lists and procedures in Mission Mode
- During accident response, serves as an assistant to the Director and the department team
- Ensures that emergency systems, facilities and responses are tested on a quarterly basis and document for records
- Cross-trains and facilitate department training curriculums as needed

In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra during this pre-operational phase, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.

Requirements

- College degree or diploma in Health and Safety or related discipline
- A minimum of 8+ years of direct experience in emergency response planning, 3+years of which at Healthcare environment
- High degree of technical knowledge and expertise in emergency management and risk management, with understanding of governmental and legal requirements.
- Related professional experience in emergency preparedness and risk management.
- Experience in conducting and/or participating in HazMat and/or natural disaster response exercises.
- Familiarity with OSHA, NFPA, applicable HazMat and emergency management principles, standards and regulations, including intentional Response Framework roles and responsibilities and Incident Command roles and responsibilities.
- Experience in delivering training related to emergency response and/or emergency management
- Demonstrated ability to design, execute and lead safety/emergency programs
- Must be able to develop solutions to address most probable cause(s) of problems and know when to involve others in complex problem solving
- Seek out, build, and maintain relationships with staff, coordinators and managers inside and outside the Site
- Ability to influence others through leading by example and constructively challenges others on non-productive and unsafe behaviors
