Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The Coordinator - Safety Training is responsible for coordinating and delivering instructor-led training that increases employee, supervisor and manager competencies related to workplace safety, injury prevention, workers' compensation, and the management of work related injuries. The incumbent supports the Specialist - Compliance Training and Development in developing on-line training programs and materials. He/ She coordinates with related stakeholders to maintain key elements of safety management communicated from training division and vendors.

KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Administers regular safety training sessions to all employees and contractors
- Arranges with appropriate staff/departments for all trainings sessions
- Updates and maintains various safety training materials and manuals
- Maintains Safety training records for all employees
- Assists in developing visual aids and presentations for the training department
- Schedules safety intensive training when necessary
- Re-schedules training and ensures accurate communication to employees and attends sessions when necessary
- Schedules, coordinates and monitors the delivery of all training, such as, new hire, annual, and any retraining to meet safety regulatory requirements
- Ensures using the most current version of training materials at the Center
- Maintains and audits training documents and files to ensure compliance with Sidras policy and regulatory guidelines
- Makes observations on all employees from the standpoint of training, then makes recommendations to trainers if necessary
- Researches safety training programs
- Provides administrative support to the Safety Manager and Safety specialists
- Includes, but is not limited to typing/copying/distributing correspondence and various other materials, preparing various reports, compiling and maintaining statistical information and maintains employee safety files
- Works with the Training Department to make sure all employees complete any required computer based trainings
- Conducts monthly safety audits on materials in hand
- Assists trainers in incident investigations and corrective actions
- Adheres to Sidras standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies

In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra during this pre-operational phase, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Safety Management and Compliance, or Environmental / Occupational Health/Safety degree or other relevant technical field.
- Formal education and/or experience in instructional design, learning, and facilitation
- 6+ years of experience working in similar role with at least 2 years of post-training industrial experience in Healthcare, as a training coordinator.
- Extensive knowledge of safety laws, codes, regulations and standards including NFPA & OSHA and safety equipment.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission and Joint Commission International facility requirements .
- Experience in a similar training, development & competence role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the fundamental principles and practical implementation of occupational health and safety management.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong interpersonal communication skills to interact, skilled in standards, concepts, practices and procedures dealing with health and safety.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of people .
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, resolve issues and meet established deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze data and present results using strong verbal or written communications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Fluency in written and spoken English
