Employment: Full Time

A top sporting event organizing committee in Qatar seeks an experienced English Copy Editor to join our team. The position requires a dedicated team member who will edit and write copy in support of our marketing initiatives and to further our communications goals.

As a Copy Editor, you will write copy and messaging, edit & format marketing materials, technical documents and social media in a range of registers for different target audiences. This position reports directly to the Head of Content Development in the Communications & Marketing Department.

Responsibilities:
Proofread and edit articles for style and accuracy, focusing on consistency, spelling, and punctuation to comply with the organization's standards.
Edit text to ensure it is well-written, complies with brand language guidelines and is logically structured.
Cooperate with colleagues to develop and communicate campaigns, including strategy, goals, budget and calendar.
Create innovative and creative copy in support of marketing initiatives across platforms and on the organization’s website.
Provide guidance and support to all departments to maximize the impact of all written communications
Collaborate with internal and external contributors while working under tight deadlines.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree is required; a degree in journalism or English is preferred; a degree in business or finance with relevant copy editing experience is also acceptable.

Minimum 3 years experience in editing a variety of documents.
Excellent written English (British and American).
Strong editing skills.
Excellent time-management skills are essential to meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
Flexibility is also essential as occasional weekends and nights are needed.
Attention to detail and a proven ability to exercise independent judgment are critical.
