Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Job Purpose:
Supports business planning process and leads financial planning and budget planning, evaluation of business performance and reporting. Leads analysis, risk evaluation, managing these risks, forecasting economic trends, enforcing pecuniary policies and guidelines throughout the company, and managing any other related projects.

Job Scope:
Budget planning and funding request. Efficient and effective financial management of the program including budget management, reporting, and cost analysis. Coordinate all aspects for fiscal administration and facilitate effective collaboration between the program, fundraising, and finance teams. In addition, this position will be responsible for the following:
- Reviewing financial reports monthly and working with program, finance, and department staff to ensure accuracy, control budget variances and develop accurate projections.
- Providing various analyses to program and department staff, including cost analysis and identifying areas for more efficient business operations.
- Capex & project cost monitoring, support for financing activities, feasibility evaluations and financial modelling.
- Business performance review and reporting.

Key Tasks and Duties:
- Develop the Department annual work plan which summarizes main work objectives, tasks, priorities and deadlines.
- Plan, control and coordinate the activities of the sections, ensuring efficient and satisfactory performance against objectives
- Assist with development of policy and guidelines to support best of class planning and budgeting, performance reporting and cost control
- Supervise implementation of defined policies and procedures to support budgetary control and business performance reporting
- Develop, implement and maintain an effective planning and analysis capability that will provide senior leadership with appropriate analytical tools to establish goals and measure performance of the Institutions businesses.
- Routinely communicate with Divisions and departments consolidated financial and operational performance trends, historical and forecasted, using appropriate metrics.
- Suggest trends, resulting implications, key actions, and strategic implications.
- Coordinate the capital spending review process for the company - Project costs and investment appraisal
- Lead scenario modeling efforts for the development and growth of the business. Participate as a key thought leader of the global finance team, influencing decision making, identifying finance priorities, managing directly and indirectly - finance staff.
- Influence the accuracy and effectiveness of the corporate accounting consolidation and closing process and treasury operations through analytical review and trend analysis.
- Develop and execute processes to allow for routine analytical reviews of company financial and operational performance, leveraging analytical resources and tools
- Supervise accurate and timely reporting on business activity and financial position including KPI for income, expenses, earnings and cash flow based on past, present, and expected operations including preparation of summary reports with management critique for variances to budget and historical trends to meet various reporting requirements and management decision making
- Support the CFO on the strategic aspects of planning and lead the preparation of the annual operating plan and budget process for the company
Prepare presentations in support of board and shareholders, monthly/quarterly senior leadership meetings and various internal stakeholders
- Coordinate capital expenditure review meetings, pre-review vetting process and all aspects of formal capital expenditure request (CER) documentation.
- Support the strategic business planning process
- Participate in the financial modeling and due diligence efforts related to the Institution's development and investment activities.
- Model potential changes to capital structure, development/investment, shareholder returns.
- Benchmarking business performance and monitor competitive dynamics of the industry (liaise with sector associates)
- Partner with accounting, treasury, audit as appropriate
- Existing and proposed Contract evaluation and negotiation from a financial perspective (perhaps included in point 17)
- Third party funding evaluation and negotiation (perhaps included in point 17).

Requirements

Experience:
- Post Graduate in business management or finance preferred
- 5-7 years experience

Domain Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Excellent working knowledge and Excel and power point skills
- Good knowledge of planning and reporting tools like Hyperion
- Problem Solving skills
