Job description / Role
- The main responsibilities of a cost controller include assisting in estimating and managing the cost of production as well as on the project level.
- The controller must assist in estimating the production and project cost using accounting models / estimation templates to help determine the price of production, the price to consumers and how much money the company can expect to make on any given product or service, or on the project overall.
* Analysis shall include pricing raw materials, labour, any necessary transportation and equipment
- The controller shall monitor at all times during the project run, that the actual costs incurred on the project are in line with those budgeted/estimated and raise the alarm in case of vast discrepancies
- The controller shall provide timely management reports that’ll outline the project performance as well as provide the accountants with the revenue booking estimates for that period
- The controller shall always scrutinize the existing cost components within the division and provide recommendations on narrowing down non-core costs and increasing profitability
- The controller must play an active link between the estimation/tendering/sales department and the finance and accounting department, thereby aligning both ends
