Cost Estimation (Roads)

Responsible for the provision of Cost Estimation related services, including the review of tender and contract documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with Standard documentation.

- Performs the required tasks within the allocated time (before the deadline) with the lowest number of errors and with the highest possible quality.
- Maintains effective relationships with all architects and engineers, as well as all involved parties on the project.
- Executes endorsed plans and programs to achieve set goals.
- Prepares cost estimate at various stages of the project in coordination with all departments and under the guidance of Senior Cost Engineer/ Section Manager and according to the project category and requirements.
- Studies drawings and specifications prior to preparation of cost estimate.
- Prepares Priced Bills of Quantities (PBOQ) under the guidance of Senior Cost Engineer/ Section Manager and according to the project requirements.
- Uses recent contractors prices, quotations from suppliers for special items, ZFP standard priced BOQ and reference pricing books for preparing priced BOQ.
- Submits completed cost estimate and priced BOQ to his Senior Cost Engineer/ Section Manager for review and comments.
- Incorporates review comments, if any, and arranges required number of hard copies for Senior Cost Engineer/ Section Manager for submitting to the Project Manager.
- Saves soft copy of completed cost estimate and priced BOQ in assigned cost folder on the LAN.
- Participates in Tender Evaluation, if required.
- Maintains material prices and quotations received from material suppliers.
- Maintains and updates price database.
- Performs other duties related to the job as assigned by Senior Cost Engineer/ Section Manager.

Requirements

Work Experience:
- About 5 years Cost Estimating experience gained preferably in a construction industry or Consultancy environment.
- Knowledge in the latest Engineering Software related cost estimation.
- Knowledge in cost planning, value engineering and cost estimation.
- Knowledge of all relevant material prices.

Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or Architecture.
- An equivalent combination of education and work experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
