The Role


Our client is a leading Office Furniture Company in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman. They are seeking a Country Manager – Iraq for their office furniture division. The position is permanent.

Reporting to the Director based in the UAE, the Country Manager - Iraq will be based in Irbil and will cover his assigned geographical territory to achieve the company's set targets.

This is a newly created appointment and the successful candidate will be responsible for setting up the operation in Irbil, hiring the team, working on existing accounts, acquiring new accounts and servicing existing clients.

There will be a particular business focus on the oil and gas sector.

Knowledge and Skills:

Ideally you will be an accomplished Sales Manager with experience of selling in the office furniture sector. However our client is open minded and will consider applications from Architects, Interior Designers, Estimators etc.

Ideally your practical experience will be supported by a university degree preferably in architecture or interior design. An MBA would be beneficial.

You should have a track record of business relationship management, able to show that you can convince and influence key decision makers.

Ideally you will have some team management experience of managing a small sales and admin team.

You should have experience of working in the Middle East / GCC etc. Experience of having worked in Iraq is highly desirable given it is a post conflict area.

You should have experience of multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-linguistic background.

The ability to speak some Arabic would be extremely useful.

You should have strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, excellent presentation and influencing skills and good analytical skills.

Some financial accounting knowledge would very useful.

You should be PC / IT literate, e.g. MS Office, Microsoft Project etc, have experience of CRMs and have a clean / relatively clean driving licence.

This is an outstanding challenge to set up a completely new business unit from scratch.

The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is a bonus scheme, 30 days holiday, company car, laptop, mobile phone, accommodation, medical / health insurance, are all provided free.

Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
