Select Auto is an Al Futtaim Automotive company. Offering premium mobility and material handling solutions for international organizations and governments, Select Auto caters to the requirements of a diverse client base for the leasing, sale and maintenance of light vehicles, heavy equipment and power generation equipment in expeditionary environments.
The Crane Operator / Senior Rigger is responsible for the safe working of the crane within the safe system of work (the Risk Assessment and Method Statement) and the manufacturer's instructions. The crane operator should:
* Be trained on the specific model of crane being used
* Understand and follow instructions in the Method Statement, duties chart and operating manual of the crane
* Rig the crane safely
* Understand the effects of various weather conditions on the safety of the lift
* Be able to take action to avoid dangerous situations
* Understand that the lifting of the load is under his control and be able to stop the operation if it becomes unsafe
* Understand and be able to manage a lifting duty using internationally recognised crane hand signals
* Understand safe load markings for the use of cranes & rigging, be able to take the appropriate actions when lifting assets are found to be unserviceable
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge (should hold valid/current crane operator & rigger license from a minimum of 1 licensing/accreditation body):
* Construction Industry Training Board (CITB - UK) - Crane Operator
* Construction Industry Training Board (CITB - UK) - Rigger
* Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) - Crane Operator
* Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) - Rigger
* National Commission For the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO- US)
* National Commission For the Certification of Crane Rigger/Signal Person (NCCC - US)
* Operating in austere environments would be beneficialÂ
Minimum Experience:
* Minimum 10 years total mobile/rough terrain crane operator experience
Job-Specific Skills:
* Fully conversant with BS7121 - British Standard Code of Practice for the Safe Use of Cranes (or direct equivalent)
* Detailed understanding of crane lifting operations
* Ability to perform daily crane maintenance
* Fully conversant with crane operator/rigger hand signals
* Fully conversant with electronic automatic load indication systems
* Be able to read & understand load charts
* Fully conversant with crane and rigger load certification requirements
* Excellent communication (English language - verbal / written) and interpersonal skills
