Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Prior to the patient's appointment, collect the patient's medical and dental histories and take vital signs.
- Prepare patients, sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays and prepare materials.
- During procedures readily assist the dentist by handing over the equipment, holding the suction-pipe etc.
- Must be organized and be able to maintain a clinic whilst adhering to strict infection control guidelines.
- Assist dentist with a variety of treatment procedures such as, handing instrument,preparing and mixing materials, and using suction devices to keep patients mouth clear and dry.
- Obtain and record information from patients about medical history.
- Is able to take dental radiographs and process them.
- Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs according to the situation.
- Is Knowledgeable about different charting systems.
- Is allowed to take primary impression if he/she has received proper training.
- Provide instructions for oral care following surgery.
- Place rubber dams on the teeth to isolate them for individual treatment.
- Be able to remove sutures.
- Sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment.
- Should be very aware and knowledgeable of cross infection protocols.
- Responsible for the organization, cleaning and disinfection of surface, chair, etc.
- Document dental treatments performed.
- Readily assist the dentist to apply protective coating of fluoride to the patient's teeth and helping in the cleaning of the teeth with correct dental instruments.
- Regularly attend departmental meetings and training provided to extent and refresh knowledge.
- Expose dental x-rays on screen
- Pour, thin and polish the study cast for a clear view of the area to work on.

- Competent computer skills.
- Able to relate to patients from different cultural back grounds.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English, Arabic knowledge is an advantage.
- Promotes confidentiality and uses complete discretion when discussing information.
- Self-disciplined and highly motivated.
- The ability to work methodical and organized.
