The RoleThe RoleTo manage the P&L performance of a geographic area through the application of end to end management presence and leadership. Responsibilities include tactical sales planning, account management, cost control and day to day operational management. Principle Accountabilities • Effectively manage the business development and operating requirements of the defined business area to deliver the company’s goals in terms of profitability and market leadership • Define and agree annual business plans including business development, sales and service delivery targets that generate the business and financial results consistent with overall long-term business objectives • Work effectively with the business management team to support business initiatives whilst managing local business development and client relationships • Direct, develop, motivate and support all direct reports ensuring that the business objectives are met to agreed timescales • Establish strong people management practices across the area to attract, develop and retain key skills and competencies required for business performance • Position and promote Rapid Access in the area as the preferred powered access business • Work in cooperation with the businesses’ sales team to agree trade-off between sales volumes and margins and pricing policies that match long term business objectives with tactical flexibility at client, channel and equipment level • Review and control the development of area based sales portfolio’s to ensure the business is correctly positioned to deliver its operational and financial targets • Optimise the structure of the business to obtain maximum sales and efficiencies • Manage the continued progression of profitability by creating an incremental improvement programme • Ensure the assets of the area are used effectively to achieve the return on capital employed as defined by business plan • Ensure area is aware of and adheres to local and externally relevant health and safety laws and policies • Analyse, evaluate and monitor all key operational performance indicators ensuring monthly performance is clearly understood in regard to customer service, operational efficiency, and financial targets to ensure regional objectives are being achieved • Set the standards of ethics, behaviour and attitude required in the workforce through the demonstrating of management best practice and commitment to company values • Establish clear accountabilities and responsibilities for the area team and ensure individuals are focused on issues that improve and exceed key performance indicators and customer expectations |
RequirementsRequirements• Professional sales management and business development experience with a successful track record in delivering differentiated sales propositions • Extensive knowledge of the Powered Access Hire industry and/or Plant Hire industry and ability to develop extensive knowledge of local customer base, competitor activity and buying behaviours • Understanding of business planning activities to include cost recovery, revenue recognition and organizational design • Previous experience of P&L management including forecasting, planning, risk management and accounting processes • Credible communicator, demonstrable leadership skills and ability to influence and negotiate effectively |
