An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Saudi Mid Life Update (MLU) Project which will refit and modify the 3 Sandown Class Mine hunters operated by the Royal Saudi Naval Force (RSNF). This role reports to the Saudi Programme Chief Engineer for the Saudi Mid Life Update (MLU) Project and will be based in Jubail, Eastern Province in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The role will be part of a deployed BAE Systems team in Jubail. The role is a permanent position with the duration of the assignment in Saudi expected to be 24-36 months with the possibility of extension beyond this and will be on an unaccompanied basis. As the Deputy Chief Engineer your main responsibilities will involve: As the In-country engineering lead for the Maritime Services MLU team you will discharge Delegated Authority from the Saudi Programme Chief Engineer. This will include: Championing Product Safety requirements and ensuring that these are met for in-country activities undertaken by Maritime Services MLU team Ensuring that engineering standards are met for in-country activities - including activities undertaken by local supplier base Taking the lead for in-country MLU engineering activities, including the relationship with BAE Saudi Arabia engineering team and the RSNF engineering stakeholders Co-ordinating engineering solutions between Refit Production team and UK engineering design team Leading a small KSA based engineering team; responsible for managing commissioning and presentation for acceptance of MLU upkeep and update activities. Salary Competitive, plus Long Term International Assignment Package which includes: Location Allowance - 25% (subject to change), an Annual Allowance - recognition of additional in country responsibilities, 15% Disturbance Allowance paid at the beginning and end of assignment, annual Leave basic 25 days + additional 7 days + bank holidays, furnished and equipment accommodation, 2 paid flights home The normal working week in KSA is Saturday to Wednesday, up to 48 hours a week on average. RequirementsRequirementsAs the Deputy Chief Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include: Honours Degree/HND/HNC or equivalent in engineering discipline Chartered Engineer (or working towards) Previous Engineering Management experience Excellent technical knowledge of naval platforms and systems Thorough understanding of UK MOD Naval Design standards Previous experience of MCMVs preferable Broad engineering background, with working knowledge of ME and WE engineering Good understanding of ship refit/upgrade activities and related engineering standards Good knowledge of test & trials for equipment/systems in a progressive acceptance regime IT skills - MS Office suite, Access and Visio What we're looking for in you You will be able to demonstrate the ability to build positive and effective relationships with customers and colleagues.
