Job Title : Deputy Engineering Manager

Location : Office Based in Doha, Qatar

Remuneration : U$ Negotiable

A multinational EPC contractor with operations throughout the world is looking to increase their project teams through new contract wins within their operation in Qatar. This office supports LNG engineering projects in Qatar within both Greenfield and Brownfield sites. The client has over 13 nationalities working within the organization at this stage.

Job Role

The purpose of this position is to plan, coordinate and manage the engineering and design of the client projects

Core Accountabilities

•Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility
•Organizes and directs all engineering forces in project organisation
•Assists the Project Manager with the resolution of engineering problems and determination of solutions
•Coordinates engineering matter with the client and subcontractors
•Obtains the client’s approval for field design changes
•Establish Design Engineering Procedures
•Participates in weekly project meeting with client
•Reviews and approves engineering documents i.e. drawings, specifications and requisitions
•Interprets designs, drawings and specifications; and provides technical advice to Construction Division, QA/QC Division explaining requirements of engineering and design specifications consistent with good construction practice
•Assures development of complete engineering records for the project record
•Plans and directs receiving, distribution, and filing of drawings and specifications through the Document Controller. Assures that the latest drawings and other engineering documents are maintained and accessible to all personnel in the office and that subcontractors have the latest revisions
•Authorizes requisitions for materials and subcontracting in regard to technical matters.
•Authorizes material take-off
•Reports change/supplemental work to the Control Group. Prepare description of change proposal
•Ensures that engineering work proceeds in accordance with the quality assurance plan.
•Reviews all non-conformance and concession reports
•Prepares the disposition plan for non-conformance items, in coordination with the QA/QC Division and authorizes disposition after approval by the client
•Coordinates turnover procedure efforts among all parties concerned, including compilation of the documents required for facilities turnover to the client

Requirements

Qualification

•Tertiary/technical qualifications either in Engineering as appropriate.
•Familiar with ASME design codes and standards.

Experience required

•The ideal candidate will demonstrate broad experience in Oil & Gas Brownfield and Greenfield facilities, preferably with EPCM contractors. Middle East experience on similar projects would be an advantage.
•Demonstrated success in past project involvement and technical delivery of small to medium size projects.
•Experienced in all design/engineering activities.
•Proven ability to influence and mentor others in safety principles and behaviours.
•Demonstrated high order interpersonal skills and the ability to operate within a multinational environment, with wide exposure to various cultures and customs.
•Excellent communication skills (both written & verbal) with ability to interact across multiple disciplines.
•Demonstrated ability to influence and motivate others with regard to continuous improvement.
•A high level of computer literacy.
