Employment: Full Time

The architect will provide front-end input to project managers to develop construction strategies and schedules, and also provides the interface between the Companies project team and the construction contractors. Primary responsibilities include the management of the construction site with regard to safety, quality, schedule, cost, and compliance to specifications. Specific tasks include: Serve as the primary Company interface to the Construction contractor, project team, operations, and engineering groups; especially with regard to installation and execution activities and resolving field problems. Provide technical expertise and consultation (constructability) in the design, contract development/bidding, and construction phases of projects. Coordinate site visits, interpret bid specifications, explain site specific security and safety regulations. Responsible for providing and maintaining a safe worksite. Has pro-active involvement with contractors to prevent accidents and injuries. Conducts incident investigations if necessary. Closely monitors contractors and provide guidance to ensure full understanding of the scope and minimize construction claims. In general, must be able to analyze and choose low cost alternatives in execution of the work. Continually inspects the construction work to assure that job schedules are maintained and that work is being performed safely and per codes and design specifications.

Key tasks and duties:
- Supports his supervisor work, in close collaboration with the Government Ministry clients for which the building work is being carried out to ensure functional and spatial requirements of structure and design requirements are in line with the clients vision and strategy.
- Must constantly vigilant to ensure that quantity and quality of materials, equipment, and contract labor meet contract requirements.
- Documents field activities and produces necessary reports on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Coordinates duties of other construction engineers and/or contract inspectors
- Supports Project Team in the review and authorization of field changes.
- Verifies and approves invoices to validate accurate with respect to work performance and/or equipment delivered, and recommends approval for payment.
- General knowledge of project execution and ability to manage non-technical phases of construction (e.g., planning and scheduling, material receiving, progress tracking, etc.).
- Be able to understand and enforce contract documents. Act independently regarding most daily and weekly activities, and interacts with supervising manager usually on a consulting and reporting basis
- Reviews and provides input for the tender brief and techno-economic feasibility study of the concept regarding design techniques and principles in relation to engaging and submits to Manager
- Participates in the bid review process as required to evaluate coverage and adherence to tender requirements regarding design, structure specifications, materials, colour, equipment, construction time and ensure compliance..
- Monitors and contributes to regulate the activities of third party contractors, for example, EPCM partner companies engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents to ensure adherence to Ashghals project concepts and timeframes. Liaises with respective Ashghal Project Manager to inform of progress and any issues.
- Participated to work closely with third party contractors, for example, EPCM partner companies to interpret and explain contract requirements. Interprets, explains and enforces regulations, ordinances and policies. Confer with relevant Ashghal staff, for example, Project Manager, Construction Manager, Contracts Manager regarding possible changes to plans (variation, addendum, extension of time) and problem resolution.
- Reviews EPCM developed scale drawings to ensure that it is in line with overall project vision. Identifies critical issues and provides suggestions to overcoming these or recommends alternative plans to relevant Ashghal staff, for example, Project Manager.
- For any in-house design projects creates designs and prepares drawings, plans, specifications, landscaping, and interior work including architectural renderings, materials to be used, perspectives and colour studies in compliance with architectural standards, codes, and regulations.
- Interfaces regularly with the respective Ashghal Project Manager, Construction Manager and Contracts Manager to provide subject matter input throughout the design and construction phases.

- Maintains logs and records of work performed; prepares periodic and special reports as required. Maintains accurate reports of contract work and other assigned activities, reviews progress, performance and completion reports, purchase requests, requisitions, and reports of claims.
- Provides training to subordinates, with emphasis to Qatari Nationals, and monitors their progress
- Bears the responsibility to cater for Health, Safety & Environment according to approved policy and procedures

Requirements

- A Bachelors degree in Architectural engineering or equivalent engineering degree
- A member of a recognised body (Institute), for example, Architect, Chartered Engineer, Professional Engineer
- Minimum 12 years experience architectural/construction including experience in the capacity of consultant/review architects
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction of buildings
- Demonstrated experience in design aspects of buildings such as schools, hospitals, ports, mosques
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical
