Design Change Engineer

Job description / Role

Provides overall engineering and coordination support to assess proposed design changes related to the scope of proposed change, and assessment of the budget and interface impacts of the proposed design change. The position is an essential position with responsibility to monitor, track, and assess proposed design changes and will work closely with the Design Change QS to fully monitor and assess the proposed design change. The Design Change Engineer also participates in VE and other workshops in accordance with contractual obligations; and monitors risks/problems and helps develop options to resolve.

Key Accountabilities:
- Manages the construction related design changes and interface with design team and design consultants to finalize and issue revised design.
- Reviews and monitors the design changes for all projects and develop and update the design changes log.
- Supports the Senior Design Change Engineer in performing other tasks as deemed necessary.
- Keeps Project Management Team informed as to changes made to ensure timely processing of contract change orders.
- Reviews and recommends the requirements for design changes and coordinate these with the Design Team, the Client and the Contractor.
- Reviews and manages all construction/design related queries to an amicable resolution.
- Support the senior design change engineer in coordinating and conducting all meetings in relation to design changes.

Requirements

- BSc degree in Engineering or related technical field.
- 8 years of related work experience preferably in large-scale development projects where general design services were performed.
- Master's Degree in Engineering preferable.
- Incumbent must have a broad general technical and construction background to facilitate the design change assessments in a timely manner.
- Proven ability to perform in a technical capacity, good written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are also required.
