Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Design Coordinator responsible for supporting the design and engineering functions for delivery of QAR 10 billion portfolio of education, medical, marine and general building projects for Government clients. A key function is management of the PWA interface with the Programme Management Consultant (PMC).

Responsibilities:
Support development of Program engineering standards, policies, procedures and best practices.
Oversee the design process to ensure that all design teams are following the program and project design standards (e.g. codes, CAD standards).
Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environment and Security requirements in all phases of the design.
Measurement of technical performance of the PMC, consultants and contractors, and incorporation into a feedback process to ensure continuous improvement to meet PWA needs.
Identification and coordination of interfaces with internal and external stakeholders to ensure necessary support to enable delivery of the projects.
Support the value engineering process to ensure design efficiency and that client objectives are met.
Participate in design reviews, and independent design checks including constructability, energy efficiency and life cycle costing.
Communicate and enforce sustainability standards for each project during the design stage.
Assist in the procurement process –tendering, evaluation and subsequent award of the design consultant agreements.
Co-ordinate technical aspects of project commissioning and handover to achieve consistency across the portfolio.

Requirements

Mandatory Requirements:
•Degree from a recognized university in an appropriate field such as: Architecture. Degrees in other relevant fields may also be considered.
•Chartered engineer status from a recognized institution.
•Driver's License.
•Proficient in English, written and spoken.

Desirable Requirements:
•Master’s degree in a relevant field.
•Experience of working in the Gulf region

Experience & Knowledge
•A minimum of 10 years’ experience in managing engineering and design for large projects and building programs.
•Experience from the client side in the procurement of multiple project designs.
•Management and Administration of consultant design contracts related to the delivery of building projects.
•Experience in the management of a team of professional staff.
•Experience in the development and implementation of quality, health and safety, & environmental targets and incorporation into the design.
•Experience in the design process from inception through to completion of construction and project close out.
