2. JOB OBJECTIVE:
Responsible to provide the technical (Mechanical discipline) supports to other Design / project managers in the different building projects to meet the project's goals and objectives.
Assist in Planning, organizing, and supervising the work of the consultant / contractor team members to ensure quality and performance within the parameters of the projects.
Review, coordinate and monitor the work of the designer including checking the design to ensure soundness, robustness, quality, adherence to local and international codes and optimization. Also, ability to perform conventional engineering assignment applying engineering techniques and analysis with the discipline.

4. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Provide Engineering and Technical support for the Building Projects Department team members and other project managers in design and mechanical project management related issues.
Supervise the consultant Mechanical Design team allocation, via close coordination of the works assignments for the design team, and ensure efficient communication of all related findings.
Contribute towards efficient review of the design of various Mechanical systems within building such as potable water, sewage system, grey water, HVAC,PWC, elevators and escalators, firefighting system etc. to reach successful ( approval) of the relevant submitted design stage per contract.
Timely review of the Mechanical systems drawings, reports and specifications submitted by the Design Consultant and Contractors at each Design Stage to ensure code compliance, completeness, correctness and compliance with the approved Scope of Work (SOW) and defined Employer Requirements (ERs).
Assist in bid review process. (Review & evaluate technical proposal & specification and prepare necessary evaluation report and recommendations)
Take part in ensuring completeness of Tender Documents, with strict compliance with Employer Requirements prior to issuance of Tender. In parallel Review response to bidders' clarifications and attend Technical Meetings along with senior MEP and PM during Tender stage as required.
Participate along with line manager in the pre-qualification exercise of the construction contractors.
Perform necessary engineering disciplines check for the project in collaboration with other design managers and PM's.
Monitor design process/progress with respect to compliance with design codes & standards, project requirements and schedule.
Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Provide periodic checks on project package to ensure all design works are comprehensive and discussed with various discipline engineers for the best implementation and installation of services in coordination with other parties and contractor.
Participate in ensuring constructability and safety of works out through the design with special emphasis towards operation needs and end user requirements.
Identify any additional necessary design activities and participate in project utilities loading, coordination and approval for activation.
Take part in Identifying new ideas (know-how inputs) to optimize and improve design. Knowledge of up to date technology and engineering systems suitable for implementation in buildings and review alternative design proposed by consultants and contractors.
Oversee all relevant drawings released for the execution of works have been coordinated with other MEP, engineering disciplines and various stakeholders.
Check the scope of design work according to the contract and monitors progress of design stages with early alert towards any deviation.
Work towards checking the design from economical, constructability, operation, maintenance, and sustainability.
Assist in the prequalification preparation and review Scope of work of the Tender documents and submission of proposals and award process.
Take place in overseeing the project mock-ups, prototypes, factory tests /visits and benchmark installations.
Overlook specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents. Preparation of a design report incl. all relevant comments for redesign, adjustment supplements if any according to the formal checking guidelines given by the design manager
Strong understanding of all related codes ( e.g. NFPA, ASHRE, IEEE, ASTM Standards and BS/EN Standards )
Ensure close coordination with the MEP team towards local authorities' approvals and Lusail third parties related to all necessary engineering system requirements for the project and may participate in negotiations with regulatory agencies in meetings.
Oversee commissioning, final inspections on completed projects, initiate 'Contract Completion Certificates' and 'Handover Certificates' in order to complete and submit the project documentation dossier.

6. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Mechanical engineering with proven experience and track record in project and design management.
Minimum Experience:
Minimum 10 years' experience in design/construction and handing over of projects including sound experience in the capacity of consultant / project management and or client representative.
The candidate should demonstrate ability of independent thinking, analysis and problem solving skills.

GCC or Qatar Experience is preferred.
Knowledge of GSAS, Mechanical equipment, materials, methods, tools involved in construction of buildings. Infrastructure is a plus.
Knowledge of different international standards, design techniques, and tools related to the discipline in producing technical plans, drawings, models and blueprint.
