Design Section Head - Electrical

Job description / Role

An outstanding opportunity for an experienced Design Professional to join the largest construction business in the Middle East. This position will oversee the development of preliminary and detailed design drawings ensuring design quality assurance procedures. This position will be reporting to Project Design Manager - Electrical.

Job responsibilities include:

1. Provide conceptual designs from project briefs and other key sources.
2. Provide design variations based on detailed review and investigation.
3. Provide active and consistent technical advice to the Engineering Team.
4. Should be able to identify key design and delivery risks & opportunities to ensure successful delivery of project.
5. Assist in evaluation of project related design costs and should advice on cost reduction and control measures.
6. Guide detail design team through the construction documentation process, check for code compliance, and maintain wide range of reports required at different phases of project.
7. Supervise appropriate computer analysis programs or tracking systems for appropriate design related projects.
8. Prepare clear design calculations and technical reports.
9. Supervise CAD designers for the preparation of design drawings.
10. Supervise and provide guidance and direction to lower-level engineers.
11. Undertake quality reviews for work produced by others, including detailed checking of calculations and drawings.
12. Liaising with internal and external stakeholders including other team members, clients, contractors, other consultants, local authorities, etc
13. Assist project managers with project administrative activities including document, cost and schedule control, preparation of meeting minutes, and progress reports and invoices.
14. Direct, evaluate and develop staff directly or through multiple levels of supervision.
15. Managing client and consultant relationships.

Requirements

Who we are looking for:

1. Bachelor degree or higher in engineering discipline Electrical.
2. Minimum 10 years' experience in Design Function, 3 years at Team Lead or manager level.
3. Excellent communications- able to articulate design to both technical and non-technical individuals.
4. Ability to successfully manage and supervise a team of approximately 15 - 20 members including Engineers and CAD professionals.
5. You will have strong interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills.
