Job description / Role

The Director of Clinical Governance Quality and Safety Management provides strong leadership and expert knowledge of quality governance, including patient safety, patient experience and care quality improvement across Family Centered Services. Working closely with the Family Centered Services Executive Team, s/he develops appropriate systems, processes and relationships to ensure high quality, safe and effective services are operational and effective. S/he contributes to the strategic development of quality governance and offers a high level of professional and operational support across the organization.

This position reports to theExecutive Director of Education Quality and Research.

* Leads the quality governance and safety strategic plan for Sidra ensuring synergy between clinical and corporate governance.
* Utilizes international best practice in relation to quality governance and ensures that research evidence underpins all quality, governance and safety plans
* Develops, implements and manages the quality governance and safety framework that enables Sidra to identify issues pro-actively, continuously measuring and improving the quality of the services provided
* Works in partnership with other key stakeholders to Identify quality improvement outcome indicators using international benchmarking standards data
* Ensures that a comprehensive programme of clinical risk management is in place across Sidra
* Promotes a positive culture for quality governance and improvement in which data, information and learning from incidents, complaints and patient feedback is used to inform service improvements and the quality of service offered
* Provides specialist advice and expert leadership on all accreditation efforts
* Provides appropriate support to ensure that quality governance and safety is appropriately managed across the operational divisions and that the principles of robust quality governance are embedded across all Family Centered Services
* Develops, implements and provides education on policies and procedures to ensure compliance with clinical standards and accreditation compliance
* Provides pro-active highly specialist advice and guidance to senior leadership to ensure good sound governance within their areas of responsibility and compliance with accreditation standards;
* Leads on the identification and analysis of reports detailing trends in quality and patient safety and provides routine reports to senior leadership
* Ensures effective early warning systems for identifying where there are gaps in quality and safety across services
* Leads on the management and investigation of sentinel events, incidents and complaints across Family Centered Services as required.
* Participates in the promotion and maintenance of effective communication and teamwork. Treats colleagues, patients, and visitors with dignity and respect at all times
* Actively welcomes new staff. Participates in staff orientation aimed at developing competence and performance
* Assists in maintaining a suitable learning environment and acts as a mentor in the supervision and teaching of other colleagues
* Participates in retention activities
* Leads and coordinates the achievement of cost efficiency savings in assigned area. Maintains an awareness of resource utilization and cost efficiencies
* Develops and sustains own knowledge, skills and professional awareness and maintains a professional profile. Provides documented evidence of performance and maintenance of skills consistent with position
* Assists in promoting and sharing knowledge via mentorship in line with relevant research and evidence based practice

Requirements

* Master's degree in Nursing, or a Healthcare related area, or MBA
* Degree or Diploma in Nursing
* Current Professional Licence as a Registered Nurse in country of origin
* Ten years of progressive management experience in an acute hospital setting within a North American Academic Institution or equivalent in: UK, Republic of Ireland, EU States, South Africa, Australia, or New Zealand
* Experience of successful handling of large budgets
* Demonstrated knowledge of international accreditation standards and leading on accreditation readiness
* Ability to lead and manage large teams
* Ability to assess, analyse, synthesise and act upon performance data and financial information
* Demonstrated ability to implement strategies and operate in a challenging environment
* Demonstrated ability to make oral and written presentations to diverse audiences
* Experience with clinical information systems.
* Demonstrated resilience and can-do attitude
* Ability to cope with rapid and sustained change, competing demands and tight deadlines
* Ability to develop effective relationships with a range of stakeholders internally and externally
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
* Fluency in written and spoken English

About the Company
