Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The client is a leading bank in UAE with lines of business includes whole range of corporate and retail banking, Islamic banking and other services.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Regulatory Compliance, the main responsibilities of this role is to support the Group in building and maintaining the required infrastructure for Compliance from policies, procedures, regulatory matrices, periodic reporting and maintenance of regulatory projects and ensure efforts are made to align with Group objectives, applicable laws and regulations and international best practices.

The job holder must be able to build and maintain productive business relationships with regulators and management across the regions with strong project management skills and must be able to work cross-functionally to effectively deliver the role purpose.

Support the Executive Director of Regulatory Compliance as follows:
- Manage the implementation and monitoring of the framework for Group Compliance that properly addresses the Compliance needs and requirements of the related divisions in line with laws, rules and regulations that best meets the needs of the Group.
- Manage the development and regular monitoring of the Group Compliance activities to ensure its alignment with best practices in addition to setting proper roles to mitigate risks and foresee emerging trends.
- Manage and maintain the creation, update and implementation of related regulatory matrix for different business activities and jurisdictions.
- Lead the development with periodic update Compliance policies, procedures and processes for the Group and ensure alignment with local regulations and international best practices.
- Manage the smooth execution of the respective policies, procedures and processes liaising with the different business and international units within the division and provide periodic update to the Senior Management or governing body of the division.
- Monitor and ensure that all related regulations, policies, procedures and processes are properly incorporate into the compliance tools (i.e. Teammate).
- Produce periodic reports summarising Group Compliance activities across the Group to Senior Management and the Board as required.
- Manage and drive regulatory mandated projects and coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure its smooth and proper delivery and provide status update to Senior Management.
- Manage contacts with regulatory authorities and assist in their examination as required by directing the related Regulatory and Reporting team in performing the needful preparation to ensure its smooth execution.
- Provide support and advice to related business units by soliciting with authorised expertise as required to provide timely and accurate Compliance advice on any critical regulatory obligations related to projects being rolled out for the Group.
- Keep abreast of regulatory developments and review changes to regulation, analyse its impact for the bank and incorporate these into the policies, procedures and processes necessary to meet new or revised regulatory requirements.
- Execute other duties as directed by the Executive Director Regulatory Compliance or by the Managing Director of Group Compliance.

AUTHORITIES:
- Managing the Groups Compliance Governance and Regulatory function
- Managing Banks compliance with standards and regulations
- Other authorities as directed by the Managing Director of Group Compliance and Senior Managing Director and Group General Counsel

Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree or Higher in Management, Banking or Finance, preferably with certification in compliance, risk management or internal audit. Legal background is a plus.
- At least 10 years of business experience preferably in Compliance and/or Audit in Banks.
- Excellent understanding of regional laws and regulations.
- Excellent project management skills with strong control.
- Strong interpersonal, people management and facilitation skills with good leadership skills.
- Ability to generate ideas, think creatively, develop innovative solutions and build effective business relationships quickly.
- Team player, able to meet tight deadlines and manage challenging workload.
- Preferably bilingual, Fluent in Arabic and English with strong written and verbal skills.
- Focused on driving tasks to completion with pace, whilst retaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Discrete and has sense for integrity and handles highly sensitive information with absolute confidentiality.
